importance CPU requirements while containing SW/HW costs.
• Assumed ongoing Performance and Capacity support for z/OS systems (50%+ of time) to backfill for staff reductions
in the Performance and Capacity workgroup.
• Ongoing system tuning: paging design, IEAOPTxx and other PARMLIB settings, system weights and memory
assignments, Logical CPU settings,
• Worked with vendor management team to negotiate reduced license pricing on a mainframe database software set.
Developed special usage reports to meet vendors’ requirements to take advantage of sub-capacity pricing.
o Developed / implemented WLM resource group capping for all workload using this database product set, to enforce
contract-compliant limited of use of this product. Tracked spurious high users of product and assisted in getting them
back in profiled usage levels.
o Provided quarterly reporting to Database vendor to meet sub-cap usage restrictions
• Completed revised Mainframe Technology road map to inform major batch application planning teams of mainframe
hardware strategy and directions.

simultaneously increasing spool capacity for individual LPARS by 35% or more.
• Completed review of IBM Tivoli System Automation, as a replacement for BMC automation products (with
Automation team)
• Led enablement of Hiperdispatch, and verified benefits in the system performance space.
• Completed re-evaluation of Parallel Sysplex and alternative options for support of new business software suite,
including costs/benefits of coupling facility with DFSMS/Transactional VSAM/Record Level Sharing, as opposed to
HWCS SYSB-II, for record level shares between CICS and BATCH (with CICS Transactional Support team).
• Prepared z/OS Configuration Options presentation and held focus groups to reevaluate the advantages of
implementing true Parallel Sysplex using coupling facility.
• Initiated, completed conversion from HFS to ZFS Unix System Services file systems
• Completed installation of SAS ITRM and specialized SAS 9.x installation in support of SAS ITRM.
• Ran project to reduce “below the line” memory map to allow ongoing growth in system reserved <16MB space. This
required monitoring all address spaces for region settings and actual low storage needs.
• z/OS 1.9 Serverpac install, customization, project technical lead. Responsible for detailed time and action plans,
communications, cutover support
• z/OS 1.7 Serverpac install, customization, project technical lead. Responsible for detailed time and action plans,
communications, cutover support
• Supported CA Scheduler CA7 migration, including design, installation, documentation, and security specifications.
• Initiated / led project to rework region standards, to address ongoing “low” storage shortage conditions.
• Supported 2 data center relocations, including setup of new z/OS images mirroring the existing LPARs
• Provided 2084 and 2064 IODFs to match device and CNT transitional / final production states task plan and execution
support of relocation, including JES spool offload/reload, intermediate host network connectivity, etc
• Completed reconfiguration of Global Resource Serialization (GRS) implementations and logical CPU definitions to
reduce contention issues and reduction of the "short engine" effect, making system performance more responsive.
• Completed REXX program set using CA Sysview interfaces, to capture and archive detailed system data. This has
become a primary tool for rapid problem determination.
• Project and technical lead for conversion to 64-bit mode (@OS.390 2.10).
