3. Why I Chose Jake Nava. I chose to research Jake Nava as the first video I thought to look at was Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), and found he directed this music video. The dance in this video is now iconic, and I was interested to find out what other videos he has directed. I am a fan of this video and wanted to find out if the songs he directed were of the same genre, or if he directed a range of different music videos.
4. Jake Nava’s biography. Jake Nava is an English-born music video and film director. He grew up in Hackney, London, and attended the University of Westminster. He now lives in the United States where he is signed to a film production company both in the U.K and the U.S. Alongside directing a number of music videos, he has also directed commercials for many companies including HSBC, L’Oreal, Rimmel and Armani.
5. Jake nava’s signature style Jake Nava’s music video tend to be quite dark, sometimes showing half of a persons face before you actually see them. As many of his videos are R&B songs, the faces you see in the video seem to give quite ‘sexy’ looks at the camera. His videos also include lots of close-ups of the artist. The artist’s particular style is also involved in the video. For example, Usher wearing his sunglasses, Beyonce’s ‘booty shake’.
