2. Who are we? – Expert in knowledge management systems
Berkeley Bridge is expert in knowledge based systems which can be used, amongst others, to create e-
health solutions with interactive decision trees.
The main product of Berkeley Bridge is the Berkeley Publisher, software with which
experts can translate their own knowledge into interactive applications based on
decision trees.
Our user-friendly and innovative applications are widely used by law firms, compliance,
HRM, and governments.
3. Trends in Healthcare
Healthcare is subjective to change. Important trends are:
1. Budgets are under pressure.
2. Patients are more outspoken
3. Health insurance companies become stricter on expenses
The Berkeley Publisher enables your organization to disclose expert knowledge from employees to
colleagues and patients in an interactive way. You can create your own e-health solutions.
4. Trends in Healtcare – e-health knowledge tools
The Berkeley Publisher helps you in translating your knowledge into interactive, online knowledge tools.
These could be, for example, tools in which medical guidelines or diagnosis-treatment combinations (DTC)
are disclosed.
You are also able to help patients by means of self-service apps and increase your efficiency by means of
online intakes.
5. How it works – Self-service applications
With the Berkeley Publisher, you are able to translate guidelines so that patients can follow them step-by-
step. This could lead to a first indication or provide the right information concerning symptoms.
An example of a self-service application has been developed by TriageExpert. Have a look at the application
(in Dutch).
6. How it works – Diagnosis Treatment Combinations (DTC)
Decision trees are a good way to disclose complex, specialist knowledge.
In the following example, the Berkeley Publisher has been used to create a DTC-model from the results of a
research concerning cerebral palsy in children.
The model determines, based on the age of the child and the
category of cerebral palsy, which treatment should be used.
Furthermore, it compiles a checklist of attention points concerning the development of the child.
7. Berkeley Bridge Learning Center
In our Berkeley Bridge Learning Center, you will find all the tools necessary to develop your first working
model within just a few minutes.
There are video tutorials, a detailed documentation, a model library and a FAQ section.
8. Advantages
Guidelines
Complex guidelines can easily be disclosed and
shared via online applications.
Intakes
By offering online intakes, you increase your
efficiency; you are able to focus directly on the
needs of a patient.
DTCs
Specialist knowledge can be translated into
interactive applications. Going through such an
application leads to specific diagnosis-treatment
combinations.
Self-service
