 Mayban Fortis Holdings Berhad was formed in 2001 as collaboration
between Malaysia’s largest local bank, Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank)
and Fortis International, one of the largest providers of integrated financial
services in Europe.

3.  With a stake of 70% by Maybank and 30% by Fortis, the partnership saw the
grouping of all Maybank’s insurance companies under Maybank Fortis Holdings
Berhad.
 On 31 October 2007, the company’s status was changed from a private limited
liability Company to a public Company. Accordingly, its name was changed from
Takaful Nasional Sdn Bhd to Takaful Nasional Berhad.
 The merger effort with Malaysia National Insurance and Takaful Nasional
culminated in the rebranding or the entire insurance and takaful group to the new
brand name – Etiqa. Etiqa will be the single master brand for all the conventional
and takaful businesses under Mayban Fortis.

4.  On 15 November 2007, the Mayban Fortis Holding Berhad (MFHB) Group
rebranded the organization under a new name and identity that symbolizes the
Group’s effort to humanize takaful operational process. The company changed its
name to Etiqa Takaful Berhad on 12 November 2007.
 Today, with the new identity and logo, Etiqa are dynamically progressive, changing
both internally and externally to ensure that the valued stakeholder, benefit from
such changes. The name is unique, personified by the core brand idea of
"Humanizing Insurance".
