3. GDM & GTT
1. Ensure overnight fasting for a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours and
2. Do not take anything in the morning. (coffee, tea or breakfast)
3. Patient should stay in lab during the 2 to 3 hours period of the test.
4. Give fasting blood sample (o hours)
5. Administer 83 gms of Glucose (monohydrates) dissolved in 250ml of water.
6. Give blood samples at the end of 1 hr, 2 hrs, and 3hrs for GDM
7. Give blood samples at the end of œ hr, 1hr, 1- œ hr and 2 hrs for GTT
Special Instructions :
1. Do not take any type of alcohol and anti-depression drugs.
2. If you are using any of these please consult your doctor before the test.
3. Please provide drug history at time of GTT.

4. Fasting Plasma Glucose
ï¶Come with empty stomach in the morning after overnight fast 8 to 12 hours.
ï¶Do not take any beverages (coffee, tea, milk) in the morning, you are allowed to take water.
ï¶Do not eat morning breakfast.
ï¶Fast for at least 8 hours before coming for the test.
ï¶If you are known diabetic, it is advisable to follow the physician instructions.

Instruction for Lipid Profile Test
ï¶Ensure patient has fasted over night for a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours and
ï¶has not taken anything in the morning. (coffee, tea or breakfast).
ï¶Do not take Alcohol for atleast 24 hrs prior to testing.
ï¶Avoid fatty meal for 48 hrs prior to testing.
ï¶Do not do lipid profile testing during acute illness like fever, jaundice or mycocardial infection.
