I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine
literature during the Period of Apprenticeship as a means of
examining conflicts; various purposeful listening and viewing
strategies; difference between literal and figurative language;
ways to extract and condense information based on library
sources; verbal and non-verbal cues in oral communication; and
types of phrases, clauses, and sentences.
B. Performance Standard The learner transfers learning by: resolving conflicts presented
in literary selections; using tools and mechanisms in locating
library resources; extracting information and noting details
from texts to write a précis, summary, or paraphrase;
distinguishing between and using literal and figurative language
and verbal and non-verbal cues; use phrases, clauses, and
sentences meaningfully and appropriately.
C. Objectives
Learning Competence
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Classify sentences according to their uses;
b. Construct declarative, interrogative, imperative and
exclamatory sentences.
c. Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation in group
activities.

pick up some pieces of paper under
your chairs and straighten your chairs.
After a minute...
Good morning, class. You may now
take your seats.
● Attendance
- Before anything else, let me check your
attendance. Say present if your
name is called. For those who are not on their
proper seat I will mark you as absent.

Alright! Now that everyone is settled, Let’s
have our review. What was the topic that we
discussed last time?
Great! Can you enumerate those different types
of Propaganda Techniques that we discuss last
time?

Motivation

transfer, testimonial, Plain-folk, Card-stacking
and Bandwagon.”
ENGAGE: “Team Up!”
So, now let’s have our activity that was entitled
“Team Up”. In this activity I will group the
class into 4 and each group will choose their
leaders. Leaders will come in front to pick or
choose one envelope . Inside of the envelope it
contains words that need to arrange to come up
a sentence. Then post your answers in the
board.
-Now class, from your group activity, what
have you observe from these sentences?
Alright! Great insight. We notice also that in
each sentence it stated a fact, expresses a
request, other sentence has a question mark and
punctuation mark.

“Pair and Construct”
So now, let’s have another activity that was
entitled “Pair and Construct”. This exercise
will be done by pair. Using the picture, you
must construct different types of sentences
that you think align on the picture.
So are you ready ? Your 5 minutes start now.
(Answers may vary.)
Possible answers:
Declarative: Daniel Padilla is an actor.
Interrogative: Is he famous?
Imperative: Could you please give me his
phone number?
Exclamatory: OMG, I saw Daniel Padilla!

Declarative: She reached the mountain top.
Interrogative: Did she hike alone?
Imperative: Please take me to the mountain

Exclamatory: At last! I reached the top!
Declarative: The team won the contest.
Interrogative: Did they win the contest?
Imperative: Let’s clap our hand for the
winning team.
Exclamatory: Hurray! We won!
C. Explain:

Class our topic for today is about
The four types of sentences. But before that
let us first read our objectives for today. All

imperative and exclamatory sentences.

Teacher will discuss the four types of
sentences according to purposes exist in the
English language: declarative sentences,
interrogative sentences, imperative
sentences, and exclamatory sentences.
Declarative Sentences
Declarative Sentence is one that gives an idea
and it states a fact. It also ends with a period.
For example:
The cat is sleeping on the couch.
China is the fastest growing
economy.
She went to the park yesterday.
Interrogative Sentences
An interrogative sentence is one that asks a
question. Interrogative sentences are
punctuated with question marks.
For example:
What are you wearing?
Where are my keys?
Would you like some tea?
Imperative Sentences
Imperative sentence is a sentence
that expresses a direct command,
request, invitations, warning or
instruction.
For example:
- Students participating in the class.
Bring me some sugar.
Buy some bread and milk on your way
home.
Please be quiet.
∙ Exclamatory Sentences
An Exclamatory Sentence expresses
a strong feeling, emotion, surprise,
excitement, or a random thought in a
sentence. These Sentences end with
an exclamation sign (!) It is also
called an Exclamatory Sentence.
For example:
You broke the lamp!
How did you break your leg?!
Thank God! You save my life.

declarative, IN if it is interrogative, IM if it
is imperative and EC if it is Exclamatory.

Leaders will come in front to pick or choose one envelope . Inside of the envelope it contains words that need to arrange to come up a sentence. Then post your answers in the board. -Now class, from your group activity, what have you observe from these sentences? Alright! Great insight. Teacher will discuss the four types of sentences according to purposes exist in the English language: declarative sentences, interrogative sentences, imperative sentences, and exclamatory sentences. Declarative Sentences Declarative Sentence is one that gives an idea and it states a fact. It also ends with a period. For example: The cat is sleeping on the couch. China is the fastest growing economy. She went to the park yesterday. Interrogative Sentences An interrogative sentence is one that asks a question. Interrogative sentences are punctuated with question marks. For example: What are you wearing? Where are my keys? Would you like some tea? Imperative Sentences Imperative sentence is a sentence that expresses a direct command, request, invitations, warning or instruction. For example: - Students participating in the class.

Please be quiet. ∙ Exclamatory Sentences An Exclamatory Sentence expresses a strong feeling, emotion, surprise, excitement, or a random thought in a sentence. These Sentences end with an exclamation sign (!) It is also called an Exclamatory Sentence. For example: You broke the lamp! How did you break your leg?! Thank God! You save my life.
