It is customary to observe the World Environment Day
(WED) on 5th June and the International Day of Yoga
(IDY) on 21st June every year. As you are aware
Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lead the 8th
IDY celebrations from the heritage city of Mysuru in
Karnataka on 21st June 2022. More than 15,000
people participated in the Yoga celebrations along
with the Prime Minister at the Mysore Palace grounds.
Keeping the overarching theme of the 75 years of
India's independence the Ministry for AYUSH identified
75 locations for Union Ministers to participate in the
Yoga Day celebrations. After almost two years we
celebrated the 8th IDY by organising physical yoga
workshops across units and establishments at Balmer
Lawrie. The theme for this year "Yoga for Humanity"
reinforces the need for societies to be connected in a
healthy way in order to enhance our resilience to fight
any eventuality together. The COVID-19 pandemic
taught us numerous life lessons; one of the most
important ones being having a healthy lifestyle and
practicing Yoga to alleviate sufferings.
We will bring you glimpses of WED and IDY celebrations at Balmer Lawrie in the July 2022 issue of
BLOOM. As always, mail your feedback, contributions and suggestions to
mukhopadhyay.mohar@balmerlawrie.com. Happy reading!
