I recommend that we expand to Pike County, incorporate key messages into the intro/closing remarks, add Recycled
Notebooks, add Parachute of Facts, make new Earth Camp t-shirts with, ‘Toyota Is A Great Green Place To Work’ on
them, and switch back to the Magic Gardener as our 30 minute performance. I also propose that we expand to three
full days of Earth Camp.
I. Purpose
Expand Earth Camp as one of the year’s two new Youth and Education Activities.
TMMI has always included Gibson County in Earth Camp but has not yet expanded to any
surrounding counties. Earth Camp has consistently used the Magic Gardener as the 30 minute
performance in previous years, but we switched to Tales and Scales last year.

5. Task

of Toyota’s social media expansion
— This was my final A3 out of all 4 co-op terms —
8. Task
Construct Article Outlining Professional Engineering
Environment Design Competition, While Making Sure to:
! Highlight generation of team member excitement
regarding recently announced move of their positions from
Erlanger, KY, to Georgetown, KY
! Highlight remarkable talent of Toyota’s engineers
! Incorporate human element into article by:
o Telling story from perspective of PE team members
o Including direct quotes from PE executives & team
members designed to tell their story
o Highlighting frustrations of PE team members
regarding
impending move
o Highlighting positive shift that competition was able
to bring to morale of PE team members

Work
Environment
Design
Competition
After
digesting
the
startling
news
that
Toyota's
Erlanger,
Kentucky
manufacturing
headquarters
will
relocate
to
three
places,
TEMA
Production
Engineer
Eric
Devries
soon
realized
the
tremendous
opportunities
the
moves
present
for
Toyota
and
its
team
members.
"I
was
shocked
at
first,
but
I
think
everyone
realizes
that
this
transition
makes
sense
for
the
company,"
said
Devries,
a
24-‐year
Toyota
team
member.
"Now
I
see
endless
possibilities
for
my
division
-‐
Production
Engineering
-‐
and
for
the
team
members.
We
have
the
unique
opportunity
to
build
a
state
of
the
art
workplace
from
the
ground
up.
Not
only
does
this
have
the
potential
to
bring
our
engineers
much
closer
together
as
a
group,
but
also
to
attract
the
best
talent
to
Toyota."
PE
is,
in
fact,
planning
to
draw
upon
the
ideas
of
all
of
its
team
members,
who
will
be
centralized
in
a
new
building
on
Toyota's
plant
site
in
Georgetown,
Kentucky,
60
miles
south
of
Erlanger.
On
June
30,
PE
conducted
a
New
Office
Design
Competition
where
engineers
from
all
different
groups
across
the
organization
presented
diverse
ideas
for
workplace
design
in
the
soon-‐to-‐be
home
base.
PE
executives
and
community
leaders
served
as
judges.
Acting
Commissioner,
Kentucky
Cabinet
for
Economic
Development
Mandy
Lambert;
Everett
Varney,
Mayor
of
Georgetown;
Bluegrass
Community
&
Technical
College
VP
Mark
Manuel;
and
Scott
County
Deputy
Judge
Jared
Hollon
were
all
in
attendance.
"The
whole
point
of
the
competition
was
to
engage
and
listen
to
the
team
members'
most
forward
thinking
ideas.
We
wanted
those
ideas
to
not
only
be
communicated,
but
also
genuinely
heard
by
both
Toyota
executives
and
the
community
leaders.
We
wanted
everyone
to
have
an
authentic
voice,
and
that
meant
that
nothing
was
off
limits,"
said
Production
Engineering
Vice
President
Karl
Kusturok.
This
freedom
led
the
team
members
to
share
ingenious
and
innovative
ideas
for
a
creative
environment
where
engineers
can
explore
new
concepts
and
10. hone
their
skills.
Ideas
included
a
retractable
office
ceiling
to
maximize
natural
light
and
even
a
monorail
connecting
the
Engineering
Headquarters
to
TMMK.
The
judges
quickly
realized
that
this
PE
Headquarters
was
not
just
being
built
for
your
average,
run
of
the
mill
group
of
individuals,
and
that
is
not
who
Toyota
was
trying
to
cater
to
with
this
competition.
Phil
Ryan
suggested
the
theme
of
the
Design
Competition
be
that
we
needed
to
"create
a
place
for
PE-‐ople."
The
ideal
work
space
for
‘PE-‐ople'
goes
deeper
than
additional
meeting
rooms
and
maximum
monitor
sizes.
These
engineers
made
it
abundantly
clear
that
they
needed
a
strategic
space
with
an
environmentally
friendly
building,
a
flexible
work
area,
stimulating
colors,
natural
lighting,
and
top
of
the
line
technology,
all
leading
to
a
collaborative
work
environment.
The
team
members'
passion
for
Toyota,
as
well
as
their
lively
enthusiasm
for
the
impending
move,
grew
more
evident
with
each
presentation.
"I
have
always
been
proud
to
work
for
Toyota,
but
on
that
day
I
was
inspired
to
work
for
Toyota,"
said
PE
Specialist
Angela
Ulloa.
Team
members
were
thrilled
with
the
consideration
their
ideas
received.
"We
have
amazing
talent.
All
we
had
to
do
was
ask,"
Kusturok
said.
Even
though
all
proposals
were
not
quite
as
elaborate
as
the
monorail
system,
they
had
one
thing
in
common—
each
came
from
extremely
passionate
individuals.
Ulloa's
dedication
to
Toyota
is
so
strong
that
even
though
her
family
needs
to
stay
in
Erlanger
for
her
husband's
job,
she
still
desperately
wants
commuting
to
Georgetown
to
be
a
viable
option
for
her.
The
overwhelming
request
for
daily
transportation
from
Erlanger
to
Georgetown
to
help
commuting
team
members
was
discussed
at
length.
"My
husband
worked
tirelessly
and
sacrificed
so
much
to
support
me
while
I
laid
the
groundwork
for
my
career.
So,
with
him
having
just
landed
a
position
in
Northern
Cincinnati
that
he
is
fulfilled
in,
I
can't
ask
him
to
move.
I
believe
in
my
husband,
but
I
also
believe
in
Toyota.
I
believe
that
they
will
provide
the
means
necessary
to
make
this
move
as
smooth
as
possible
for
11. my
family
and
I,"
said
Ulloa.
All
the
groups
that
presented
that
day
were
impressive.
One
team
even
showed
off
their
creative
and
artistic
talents
by
dressing
in
full
costume
to
narrate
the
story
of
saving
their
Manager
from
his
lackluster
office
of
the
past.
Through
their
journey,
the
‘Back
to
the
Future'
team
described
just
what
their
ideal
office
of
the
future
would
consist
of.
They
even
incorporated
Production
Engineering
Specialist
Chris
MacDonald's
self-‐
engineered,
fully
functioning
model
cars
into
the
presentation—something
that
really
let
the
audience
visualize
the
remarkable
talent
we
have
at
Toyota.
With
the
caliber
of
work
these
engineers
produce
when
they
are
truly
excited
about
a
project,
it
seems
only
natural
to
build
them
a
workplace
that
encourages
creative
exploration
and
innovation.
Whether
you
were
a
Specialist
or
a
Senior
Vice
President
in
the
audience
that
day,
you
were
left
with
a
sense
of
deep
pride
for
the
enthusiastic
passion
and
dedication
of
the
Toyota
team
members.
