The main message of this documentary is to show the young people of
Sunderland and young people across the UK that Sunderland is a good
place to live and also display the investment within the city.
5. 1 6 – 2 5 Y E A R O L D ' S
After a survey was
conducted, 100% of
people within the
demographic believe
Sunderland is a bad
place to live.
100% of people would
watch a documentary
about the investment
within Sunderland.
6 out of 7 people find it
hard to find motivation
after college/ work/ Uni
Almost 60% of the
demographic
understand that the
outdoors can help with
mental health, but still
choose not to.
The demographic would
rather an expository to
participatory.

After seeing the survey feedback, I was finally able to come to a firm and confident decision on what to make my
documentary on.
• Main Idea – Show how Sunderland is improving as a city and its significance within the northeast.
• How Sunderland may not be good for tourism, but good for industry
• Showing the places that Sunderland is situated close to and how accessible these places are.
• Voiceover clips (expository audience)
• Display things to do at places with the family.
7. O T H E R D O C U M E N TA R I E S
• In order to understand how to film and edit my documentary properly I researched other documentary’s and social
media.
• Past work made me strong with:
• How voiceovers work best
• The rise and fall in tension
• L and J cuts
• Research within David Attenborough, Sunderland Till I die and Tik Tok has shown me:
• How change can keep an audience engaged
• How to edit and use text in order to keep the audience engaged (Tik Tok)

• Alnwick Castle
Alnwick is a great place for the family to visit as well as
being a significant historic and filming location. Having a
Castle, Garden and Treehouse, it is a place to go for a full
day out with the family.
• Bamburgh
Great village to take the family and relax and walk. Stunning
beaches and small shops for food and ice cream
• Durham
A bustling city within the northeast that has a range from
historic cathedral and streets to modern day shops and
restaurants. A great place to take a walk and spend your day,
or spend on a night out
• Newcastle
Transforming from a coal industry, Newcastle has
transformed into a place for retail and hospitality. Efficient
transport links make the city only 15 minuets away from the
coast where that can be its own day within itself.

• Old Sunderland
Being a Shipbuilding capital of the world and at a point, produced
a quarter of the world's vessels. Nissan also placed there first
European production warehouse within Sunderland.
Since the decline of the shipbuilding, Sunderland has lost its main
purpose and the investment within the city has declined and the
city has been falling into disrepair since.
• Stereotypes of Sunderland
Residents of Sunderland and people around Sunderland believe
that Sunderland is a bad place to live and there is nothing to do
anymore. Sunderland is seen as being boring and dirty.
• Future of Sunderland
The investments within film and media within Sunderland should
bring in work and assist Sunderland in becoming a filmmaking
capital of the world and in return, increase the popularity and
investments within new buildings and programs.
10. T H E S C R I P T A N D W H Y I T R E L AT E S
• Talking about how Sunderland and the northeast are commonly seen as being a dirty and deprived part of the UK.
• Displaying the beautiful parts of the northeast, Alnwick and Bamburgh.
• Showcasing the Bustling areas of the northeast, Durham and Newcastle.
• Finally, linking back into Sunderland we can show how Sunderland is evolving from its past and is changing into a
filmmaking capital of the world.
Having these four different sections to the Documentary gives the audience the understanding of the stereotype,
therefore making the person in the voiceover come across relatable. This connects the audience and gives a sense of
trust to person talking. Then moving into the beauty and retail sides of the north, people understand that the
stereotypes are in fact not so true.
Proving the audience wrong with facts will make the audience trust the storyteller more and in return, allow them to
believe that the investments within Sunderland will make a difference and understand where and what Sunderland will
be transformed into.
11. From my feedback I can infer that my idea works well with the
brief and the client. My idea was well received by the
audience and although there was a few anomalies within my
feedback, the overall majority agreed with my decisions.
The campaign interested the audience which not only means
that my idea is strong, it also demonstrates that my
presenting ideas have evolved over the last couple of years
and that I have become stronger in my skills in presenting.
Also, my skills in relating to the target audience have
improved as we can see that the people, I presented to
believe that my idea a conforms with the targeted audience
well.
Choosing locations for past projects and this project
especially has always been a struggle for me. However,
looking at the feedback, I can infer that my choices for
locations have been well chose and each location holds its
own purpose.
12. When presenting my pitch, everyone
was able to understand what the aim of it
was. Therefore this reinforces the fact of
how presenting skills have grown.
Although as seen in the last slide, one
person did not agree with my campaign,
however this question proves that I am
now able to present my idea clearly and
confidently.
From the people I presented to, they all
believe that the documentary will help
with the image of Sunderland and the
image of the northeast.
13. From this feedback I can see that a couple of people
did not find my points very clear. However the
previous feedback tells me that although some
points were confusing, they still understood the
overall message and purpose of my documentary.
When it came to presenting, I went into more detail
about my research. For example I spoke about how I
analyzed blue planet and Sunderland Till I Die,
which assisted me with my storytelling capabilities. It
is great to see that people can see how my research
has helped me and it gives me the confidence to
trust my research and use it within my own work.
