BPI group’s Executive Employment Trends Report offers visibility into the current executive job market. We
are committed to quality and results in our outplacement programs, and believe that keeping a careful eye
on trends in the market is an important way to ensure that we meet the needs of our career transition
clients. The findings of this report are based on a survey of our executive clients who began their job search
from Q1 2016 through Q2 2017.
The Executive Employment Trends Report includes analysis of the following executive employment trends:
– Average length of the executive job search
– How the length of the job search is impacted by various factors, including:
• Base Salary Level
• Education Level
• Age
We look forward to continuing to share the latest trends in executive employment. If you would like to learn
more about our approach to executive outplacement, please connect with us at info@bpi-group.us.

Executive Job Market Continues Strong Growth
Executives in career transition continue to benefit from strong job growth in 2017. More than one million jobs have
been added to the economy since January, with more than six million job openings reported.1 With U.S.
unemployment at a 16-year low of 4.3%, the market for qualified talent continues to heat up.
BPI group’s executive career transition clients landed new roles in an average of 4.5 months in Q3—slightly shorter
than our Q2 average of 4.6 months, but significantly faster than the national average executive job search length of
5.9 months.
2
Our executive clients with a base salary greater than $250k landed new roles in an average of just 4.2
months this quarter—reflective of the competitive market for senior executive talent. In this environment, our
career transition consultants help executives carefully consider the next step in their career, leveraging assessment
tools and professional consulting to establish short- and long-term career direction, as well as skillfully negotiate
compensation packages.
EXECUTIVE EMPLOYMENT TRENDS REPORT Q3 2017

Managing Director, Career Services
BPI group
Compared to Q2, we saw a 5% increase in the number of executives (85%) who chose to
seek a new job within an organization, with a concurrent 8% decrease in those who
decided to start their own businesses (10%). While entrepreneurship is still going strong
in the United States, this latest decline may be indicative of persistent uncertainties
about health care and global economies.3 Regardless of the career and life decisions
facing senior executives, BPI group consultants remain committed to supporting our
clients and executives every step of the way.

  • 3. © BPI3 ©BPIgroup Executive Job Market Continues Strong Growth Executives in career transition continue to benefit from strong job growth in 2017. More than one million jobs have been added to the economy since January, with more than six million job openings reported.1 With U.S. unemployment at a 16-year low of 4.3%, the market for qualified talent continues to heat up. BPI group’s executive career transition clients landed new roles in an average of 4.5 months in Q3—slightly shorter than our Q2 average of 4.6 months, but significantly faster than the national average executive job search length of 5.9 months. 2 Our executive clients with a base salary greater than $250k landed new roles in an average of just 4.2 months this quarter—reflective of the competitive market for senior executive talent. In this environment, our career transition consultants help executives carefully consider the next step in their career, leveraging assessment tools and professional consulting to establish short- and long-term career direction, as well as skillfully negotiate compensation packages. EXECUTIVE EMPLOYMENT TRENDS REPORT Q3 2017 Steve Spires Managing Director, Career Services BPI group Compared to Q2, we saw a 5% increase in the number of executives (85%) who chose to seek a new job within an organization, with a concurrent 8% decrease in those who decided to start their own businesses (10%). While entrepreneurship is still going strong in the United States, this latest decline may be indicative of persistent uncertainties about health care and global economies.3 Regardless of the career and life decisions facing senior executives, BPI group consultants remain committed to supporting our clients and executives every step of the way. 1. http://money.cnn.com/2017/08/04/news/economy/july-jobs-report/index.html 2. http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/cpseea37.htm 3. https://www.inc.com/magazine/201612/leigh-buchanan/state-of-entrepreneurship-2017.html
