2. WHAT IS A FRIENDLY LETTER ?
TYPES OF LETTERS
There are two types of letters. There is a formal
and an Informal letters; today we will learn about
an informal letter known as a friendly letter.
A friendly letter (note) is written to share news
about yourself and to ask/answer questions to
get to know someone better
There are five different parts to a friendly letter
4. HEARDING
The heading is where you write the address you
are writing from and the date you are writing the
letter.

The address goes on the top right corner of your letter
5. GREETING
The greeting is where you say hello to who you are
writing to. Remember to always use a comma after
the greeting.
Dear TT
Hello Tod
Greetings Zama
6. BODY
This is the main part of your letter. In the body, you
tell why you are writing the letter, you ask questions,
and answer them also.
“Thanks for your letter Buddy. I got it on the
same day we moved into our new home. Hearing
from you cheered me up.”
7. CLOSING
The closing is the part where you say goodbye to
whoever you are writing to. You always need a
comma after.

The closing goes after the body and is at the end of the letter.
11. ACTIVITY: COMPREHENSION
1. Scan the address in the right hand corner of the letter. What is the name

2. Write the name of the class mate who over come his fear of public

appears before and after feat to help you work out its meaning. Chose the
