Rationale:
I have decided on this project as I believe it allowsthe youth of York or even visitors to
truly explore the slowly growing fashion scene in York. I feel like it will also bring more light
to the subject of fashion within York and make it more relevant to the youth as it isn’t
hugely diverse just yet. It also allows some of the lesser-known clothing stores in York to
be given the attention they deserve as they may not be seen as “cool” or “too different”,
but this is exactly what I want to do I want to push people out of their comfort zone and
possibly find their new favourite style of fashion.
Project Concept:
My concept is a fashion challenge which puts you against the clock to make the best outfit for the
cheapest out of your team of 4, there will be multiple layers to this challenge to give it more of a
competitive edge against the other contestants such as a time limit, money limit and randomised
shops. These aspects give the challenge a significant boost to the adrenaline rush which comes
with it and they can even be modified and customised to the player liking by setting the time limit
from 30mins up to 2hrs even the money can be modified from £50 - £100 but this money will only
be virtual on the app and not real money as that would cause constraints with people who may not
have the funds to participate as I want to keep this project fully inclusive as everyone should be
able to express themselves through what they wear. I’m going to research around the clothing
stores in York and what they offer to try and keep variety between each randomised choice, I also
want to investigate the different types of styles and aesthetics each of these stores cater towards
or if they even have a specific one style and have a multitude of styles.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I plan to evaluate each section of work I conduct / film as this would be beneficial to me in the
present and future as it lets me see the good things I have done and how I can push those ideas
more but also the negatives and how I can improve upon them next time to possibly compose a
shot better, have better lighting, angle the shot better etc which in turn gives me the knowledge for
future problems as I will have already learnt how to deal with them and improve upon them and
gradually increasing my skills.
