Dr. Fay Cobb Payton is the Director of the ITSMF Executive Protégé Program (EPP). Dr. Payton’s mentoring and
coaching experience has been extensive. She was recently featured in Diversity Careers in Engineering and
Information Technology for her mentoring work with minority doctoral students. She has work with the KPMG
Foundation and The PhD Project to foster and mentor African, Native and Hispanic American doctoral students
through their PhD process.
Dr. Payton earned a Ph.D. in Information & Decision Systems (with a specialty in Health Care Systems
Management) from Case Western Reserve University and a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from
Georgia Tech; BS in Accounting and MBA in Decision Sciences from Clark Atlanta University. She worked for
Ernst and Young/CAP Gemini’s Health Care IT Practice, IBM and Time-Warner prior to earning her Ph.D. Her
current and prior research projects have included collaborations with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio and North
Carolina, Duke Medical Center, SAS Institute, Cisco Systems and RedHat, The North Carolina Medical Society
and Quintiles Transnational.
