Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.) I believe that my audience is mainly 16-18 year old males. This is because it is a
college film and it may appeal more to this age group that an older age group.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
Throughout the year I have learned how to use premier pro and have also learned how to use
sound recorders to make sound effects and how to use them effectively whilst editing them in to a
video.
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
The subject that I have studied this year has not really informed my choice for this project as the
theme of my current project is going to be different to the themes that have been used in previous
projects from different subjects.
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
So far I have studied print adverts, film production and editing briefly and I have studied video
games in more detail than the other subjects. The only thing that I think will impact my project is
the film production that I did at the start of the course since I learned some things doing that.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
I am going to make a short film where there is a person who is stuck in a loop. At the start of the
film the person wakes up due to a noise that they hear in the hallway. They get up and go in to the
hallway to check it out. When they enter the hallway, the door closes behind them and they hear a
strange noise after it. They continue down the hallway and try to open all the doors on they way
yet they all seem to be locked. When they get to the final door at the end of the hallway they open
it and they walk back into the hallway from the door they originally came through. They then go
through the door many times whilst going through a mix of emotions and there become
discrepancies in the hallway as things have changed and new things have appeared. When the
person as on the verge of breaking down, a gun appears in the next loop. The person then picks
up the gun and the screen goes black, and then follows the sound of a gunshot. Then the very
beginning of the first scene repeats.
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
I will need to conduct research on methods of different shots and how to make shots look like they
have looped. I will also need to do research on human emotion and try to get an idea on how a
person would realistically react the that sort of situation.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
I will need to consider a specialist technique in post-production to make it look like there is a loop
when the person comes through the doors. I also need to make a lot of sound effects and maybe
some music with an ominous tone to it so that it adds tension to the scene and I could also use
music to throw off the viewer so that they expect one thing but something else happens. An
example of this happening is the music played in game of thrones during “The Battle of the
Bastards”. When Rickon is running there is music playing which is building up to a point where the
viewer would expect there to be a payoff but when the music reaches its final point, nothing
happens for a little while after. I could try to incorporate this sort of sound design in to my film.
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?

I don’t think so yet I am not sure.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
I will be doing a development diary every week that evaluates the work that I have done
throughout the week. I will also do a final evaluation of the work at the end of the project so that I
can find things that went wrong and think of ways that I could fix them.
