• I had the opportunity to volunteer and serve

• Interacted with the people and made an
impact on me
• All the people were happy and wanted to

• Problem being addressed through New Media is that there
are many people out there who need an extra meal, or
help because of unemployment, drugs, or personal
situations.
5. Why do they use these
• Website with Blog, Vimeo video, Newsfeed

Get the name out there, the most popular thing. Blog gives monthly
updates, newsfeed tells us the most recent event, and the Vimeo videos puts
a face testimony as well as stories from people helping and being helped.

Another form of a New Media that could possibly reach out to a different
audience, and more of a relationship with people instead of just the site
informing. Since people have Facebook’s they can like the page and share it.

They do not have a twitter but are looking into getting one soon to also reach out
to people who may want constant update instead of having to go to the website.
6. Why these New Media’s were chosen
• Lighthouse Ministries uses these different forms of
New Media to not just get their name out, but to
help people who want to help out.
• They chose the ones that were most
relevant, (website, Facebook) and used forms of
media (blog, Vimeo, newsfeed) to give the people
constant updates.
7. What methods were replaced
• The biggest method that was reduced was paper
advertising around town. Before the media internet
they solely went on word of mouth, relationships
and advertisements.
• Now they have these on top of the New Media that
they have chosen.
8. Effectiveness of New Media
• Greg Horn-Has helped the company grow and has
helped spread the word of Jesus
• Addressing the problem and need through New
media has allowed them to reach out to more
people then they ever had before, as well as gain
more volunteers and helped than ever imagined.

I think that lighthouse ministries does a great job with their New Media. It’s
simple and easy to access and you can tell they are passionate about what they
do. The only thing I would fix is that make it easier to figure out how to get
involved and a Twitter account.
