Institute of Health
Management Research, Jaipur
Founded in 1984 in Jaipur, the Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) (formerly known as
Indian Institute of Health Management Research) has made phenomenal contributions to both research
and education in the area of management of health services achieving a pride of place in health
management, planning and research at the national and international levels.
The role of the Institute is being increasingly realised and appreciated in developing health management
as an important discipline for improving the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of health care. The
Institute has consolidated its focus on research in health policy and programs.
Being a WHO Collaborating Centre and recognised as an Institute of Excellence by the Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare, Government of India, the Institute has been able to promote research in policy
development and program evaluation. We have extended our scope of work to several states. We are now
working in most of the major states in India.
6. The Campus
The Campus is located near Sanganer Airport and is spread over an exquisitely landscaped area of 14
acres. The architecture of the Institute with traditional blending of local culture is one of the best in the
country.
The facilities at the Institute are of international standards. The main building has an academic block, a
computer center, a library and documentation center, a conference hall, an auditorium, an MDP center,
and lecture and seminar rooms.
There are three hostel buildings which can accommodate as many as 171 students in rooms which are fully
furnished and provided with a TV, telephone, and central air-cooling. A well-equipped modern kitchen
and a spacious dining hall are attached to the hostels. A number of guest houses are located on the
campus.
The residential complex has flats on the main campus for the staff, in addition to 11 flats a little away from
the campus. The complex includes a jogging track, tennis and badminton courts, and a mini playground
for children. A centrally installed dish antenna provides a variety of TV programs to the residents. A club
house complex provides facilities for a variety of indoor games, including table tennis, chess and carom. It
also has a gymnasium. There is an outdoor swimming pool located within the complex.
7. The Computer Centre
The Computer Centre is one of the most contemporary in India. A state-of-the-art network with more than
200 nodes connects every corner of the Institute.
The Institute is outfitted with the latest Pentiums/core 2 Duo PC, Laptops, Exchange Server, LCD Projectors,
Laser Printers, Video-conferencing facility and technically competent software and hardware
professionals.
The Institute's network is linked to the Internet via a dedicated leased line enabling round the clock fast
Internet connectivity. For students, teachers and guests' support, throughout the campus Wi-Fi facility is
provided for wireless connectivity.
Besides providing support to the ongoing activities of the Institute like research, teaching, training and
consultancy, the Centre is actively engaged in software development in the field of health and hospitals.
The Computer Centre acts as a central nervous system ensuring the satisfactory operations and bringing
life to every activity of the Institute.
8. The D.A. Henderson Library and Documentation Centre
The D.A. Henderson Library and Documentation Centre located in the main building of the Institute has a
well-balanced collection of books and periodicals and provides user-friendly services and easy access to
facilities.
It is one of the best professional libraries in India. It is the first automated library in the state and has a
unique collection of publications in various subjects along with over 100 periodicals of professional and
research and general nature.
The collection also includes audio and video cassettes, CD-ROMs and Database from India and abroad,
like Health Plan, Popline, e-TALC, Indiastate.com etc.

9. Postgraduate Program
The Institute offers a two-year full-time Postgraduate Program with specialization in Hospital Management and
Health Management. It is a flag ship educational program aiming at developing trained professional
managers with requisite skills in planning and operating management techniques; diagnosing and solving
management problems; and acquiring consultancy skills, with a view to preparing them to manage hospitals
and healthcare institutions in developing countries both in the public and the private sectors, and to meet the
rising demand for quality care. For practical training the Institute has collaborative arrangements with multi-
specialty hospitals, NGOs and healthcare organizations.
As the program has set high standards of management education in the health sector, it has attained the status
of a premier program in the country. Our students go for training and placement to as many as one hundred
hospitals and healthcare organizations.
The program, with an intake capacity of 120 seats, is recognized by the All India Council for Technical
Education (AICTE), and Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Institute has
approval for admitting students who are foreign nationals/ PIO's/ children of Indian workers in the Gulf
Countries, under 15% supernumerary quota.
The Institute has featured in the list of top 5 Sectoral Business Schools of the country.
The program has also been awarded the accreditation status by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
The program has been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi as equivalent to MBA
degree of Indian universities.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has awarded approval to admit 18 foreign students in the
Institute. The Institute also has permission to admit PIOs/ Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries.

Summer training is an integral part of the program. The students are placed for eight weeks in
various hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout the country and abroad for hands-

14. Admission Requirements
Application and Admission
Candidates aspiring for admission to the PGDHM program are required to fill in an admission form, which can be obtained from
the Institute by paying in cash or by sending a demand draft for US$ 50 drawn in favour of "Institute of Health Management
Research", payable at Jaipur for admission process fees.
Application forms can also be downloaded from our website: www.iihmr.org. In the latter case, applications must be sent along
with a DD for US$ 50 for admission process fees.

a good academic record from a University/Board included in the list of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), UGC and
AICTE. In case the University/ Board is not included in the said list, the candidate has to obtain and submit a certificate to this
effect from AIU by paying the requisite fee.

Health Requirements
All applicants are required to submit, along with their applications, a certificate of good health from a licensed physician based on
a medical examination performed during the year of the application.
15. Eligibility Requirements

sponsored. They should also indicate whether they will be sponsored by their organisations or will be self-sponsored.
Selection Procedure
Duly completed application forms may be sent by post together with all the documents in support of eligibility. An application will
be considered only when it is received with all documentary evidences.
The final selection of the candidate is based on his/her performance in college and experience.
Candidates are required to bring original documents for verification at the time of joining.
