Methods of Teaching/ Interacting
Teachers choices /strategy
Ms Asma Akbar Ali 7
Your individual approaches & strategies to impart knowledge & inspire students to learn.
Not only are there dozens of teaching methods to explore, it is also important to have a
sense for how they often overlap or interrelate.
Teacher centered
1. Classroom /Direct Instruction
2. Flipped Classrooms
3. Kinesthetic Learning /demonstration
Student centered
1. Differentiated Instruction
2. Inquiry-Based Learning
3. Game-Based Learning
Is there any best method of teaching?
NO
However, some methods do prove to be more effective than others
depending upon how effectively they were use and how receptive the
learners were.
Many researchers today agree that including more student-centered
learning approaches to the classroom can improve learning.
Using only a teacher-centered approach leaves out many skills and
learning opportunities for students.
Yet, there may still be space for teacher-centered learning for some
specific topics and learning objectives but should not be the only
strategy in your teacher toolbox.

Differentiation is often defined as tailoring instruction to meet the needs of
individual students.
Working memory is different and at different pace. We know from decades
of cognitive science that our working memory – what we can think about in
the moment and give attention to – is limited, between 4-7 pieces.
Learning, as defined by Sweller & Clark is a ‘change in long-term memory’
Ms Asma Akbar Ali 11

Teacher Traits Vs Teacher Personalities
Practical Approaches
Think about your favorite teacher. What made them special? Was it their
ability to change your perspective on a topic? Their sense of humor?
Their ability to answer questions ? Able to motivate you?
Every teacher approaches the job differently. There are teachers who run
their classrooms like a tight ship. Meanwhile, others prefer a more
unstructured approach where students can explore their creativity.
Choose strategies that best suits your personality in order to make the
lessons effective even if that means reputedly using some specific
methods

It is what you don’t say that counts

Ms Asma Akbar Ali 17
Role Modeling Body language
1. Entrance in the classroom – Not prepared
2. Tired not motivated /energetic
3. Talk but looking somewhere else – lack of eye contact
4. Standing in one place – not moving towards or within the class
5. Hands on waist
6. Expression – facial expressions
