Witness statement
Overall after reading through my witness statement it is clear that the design and information for
my posters have included all relevant content. Because of this it would make the reading and
understanding of the posters easier and more suitable for my target audience. My proposals and
information regarding budget include relevant information that is suitable for the posters and
would be the plan if I was to create and print the posters.
I will be using survey monkey in order to conduct a survey and obtain
feedback for my print based advertisement. I can use the feedback in order to
make improvement that could help to improve my posters effectiveness
towards the target audience.
How well did I present my pitch?
After viewing the results for question 1 it appears as though the majority of people
who answered the question gave an answer of 87 which is the equivalent of 8.7 out
of 10. Because of this I know that overall my pitch went reasonably well although
there is still room for improvement. The overall rating also helps me to understand
that I engaged the audience and that they all felt understanding of what I was
saying.
How could I improve my pitch?
The improve for my pitch were obtained in question 2 as almost
everyone that answered the questionnaire left good feedback. Overall I
believe that the most important point that was made would be that I
should go into more detail with my slides. By doing this I would have
been more likely portray my point about my poster across to the peers
in greater detail.
Do you believe my proposals were detailed
enough and covered everything they should have?
Everyone that answered the questionnaire thought that my proposals
included all of the relevant information about my print based
advertisement. Because of this I am able to understand the fact that
explaining my proposals to the peers was successful in detail and
relevance to my print based advertisement.
Do you agree with my final decision on my
chosen poster?
Everyone also thought that my poster decision was the right choice and the
colour scheme was perfect for my target audience. Because of this I now know
that any improvements I might need to make to my posters will need to be minor
as their overall look and appeal to the target audience it correct.
Production plan
Location Recce
Before taking any photos would
need to complete a location recce
in order to ensure that the model
and the setup of the background
will go to plan. In order to achieve
the best photo and obtain the
best results I will need to
complete the location recce so
that not hazards or potential risks
occur.
Proposal
This is my proposal that
highlights my aims and
objectives that I will be
using in order to create
my poster that attract
the attention of my
target audience.
Campaign message
‱ Innovation is one of the UK’s leading festival/event
holders as their posters demonstrate what every
festival should be like. The use of the images and
colours helps to connote the idea of everyone
having and good time and having fun. The use of the
colour purple predominantly makes up the posters
main colour due to how it symbolises power and
extravagance. However, the main image located in
the centre of the poster depicts what the readers of
the poster should expect if they buy the tickets.
Additionally, this could also demonstrate how
popular and extraordinary Innovation’s festivals and
events can be. The style and colours used can also
show how unique this poster is compared to any
other competitive posters.
Photo shoot plan
This is my photo-shoot plan for my print based media product. As you can see this is where I
have planned out what I will be photography and what characteristics have to be included in
order to obtain the correct photo. The photos I take will be included in my poster so that
they can catch the eye of my target audience.
House style
‱ The house style will need to be associated with
neon colours and features. Because of this I will
be using bright and fluorescent colours such as
greens, blues and purples. It is important that
the colour scheme and style is kept the same in
order to make the recognition of the poster
easy fore the target audience. The text font and
style will also need to match the style which is
associated with neon. By doing this the target
audience will be able to get a taster of what the
festival will be like by only reader a little of the
text. The style and images on the poster will
need to suite the style and have relevance to
the festival. Because of this the use of the
colour purple will suite the image the most as it
will help to merge the image will the rest of the
poster.
Poster Designs
Budget summary
In order to have an advert put into a magazine it
would will need to cost roughly around ÂŁ2000-ÂŁ2500.
I believe that the advertising rate for Q magazine
would be the best to use as their circulation is
monthly and this is less costly to a weekly circulation
such as NME magazine. The cost of all of the
equipment and salaries on this page are a rough
prediction of what the costs would be to produce the
advertisement for the poster. The main investment
would need to be towards computers and not for the
main setup of the equipment. This is because the
majority of the work done would be towards editing
and adapting the advertisement.

Poster Design step by step
‱ Firstly to start the design of my poster I decided to design the background by using the brush tool
and painting the background black with a purple glow effect on the side. Next I selected what my
main photo would be and placed the image in the center of the page. Using the sharpen and
brighten tools I was able to make the photo clearly with a neon effect. The biggest text on the page
would be the main headline situated at the top of the page clearly stating “Neon Festival”. A key part
of the festival poster would be the date that I created and placed under the main headline with the
text tool. Some of the artist are scattered around the main image and are used to interest the
reader. The logos and additional information is listed at the bottom so that the readers are able to
find more information if they wanted to. The triangular designs at the side of the main image is used
to catch the readers attention and make them want to read the poster.
‱ For my second poster, I also started by editing the background with a brush tool used to make the
background black and light blue. Secondly I then decided to make the main headline using the text
tool in order to accurately size and move the main headline to the top center of the page. The date
and some of the artists are listed around the main image in order to encourage the reader to go to
the festival. The logos and website to buy the tickets is listed at the bottom of the page so that the
reader is able to easily able to find out more information about he website. The triangular design in
the back of the poster is used in order to catch the readers attention and cause them to reader the
poster.
Risk assessment/safe work practices
Photography risk Assessment
Before taking any of the photos of the model I will need to ensure that I have
permission to take pictures of them. To do this I decided to print a consent form
that the model could fill out and that would give me permission to take pictures
of them and use the images on the poster. This consent form gave me legal
evidence to take pictures of the subject and use the images for the poster.
Background Risk Assessment
Before taking any of the images of the subject I need to ensure that the overall
set up of the background and foreground is safe for the subject and myself. The
proper risk assessment of the area ensures that the area is safe and the photo
plan can begin.
Software Risk Assessment.
When editing and changing the images it is important that the applications that
are being used are safe and straight forward to use. In order to resize the image I
had to hold down shift in order to resize the image make it look more pleasing to
the viewer. The changes to the brightness will need to be used in an a different
way in order to include the tools that are relevant in photo-shop to help create
the poster.
Improvement
For my improvements I decided to make the names of the artists smaller in order to
cover less of the design in the background. I did this be resizing the fonts so that
they can still easily be read and still look aesthetically pleasing. I kept the colours of
the text the dame so that the neon effect is still evident in the posters.
How the poster reflects the campaign
message
Innovation is one of the UK’s leading festival/event
holders as their posters demonstrate what every
festival should be like. The use of the images and
colours helps to connote the idea of everyone
having and good time and having fun. The use of
the colour purple predominantly makes up the
posters main colour due to how it symbolises power
and extravagance. I have used the dame colour in
one of my posters in order to attract as many
people as possible in my target audience to attend
the festival. The bright and vibrant colours I used
also help to relate to my campaign message in
order to express what the festival will be like and if
they feel like attending the festival.
Regulatory & Legal, Ethical Issues
‱ A watermark helps with any poster copyright issue due to how specific and complex the icon is.
This icon can be seen as the posters unique symbol that is made up of a plethora of colours that
can only be detected by a reflected light.
‱ The Data Protection Act (DPA) was developed to control how personal a customers information is
used by organizations or government bodies. It protects people and lays down rules about
how data about people can be used. The DPA also applies to information or data stored on a
computer or an organized paper filing system about living people. Organizations that do not adhere
to the rules set out by DPA risk prosecution by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) where
fines can reach up to ÂŁ500,000 and even imprisonment.
‱ Ethical issues: When a festival poster is being produced it is very important that the company
follows strict rules and consider consequences of its release. It is also important that the poster
realizes the consequences of targeting a specific culture or religion that might seem vulnerable. If
the brand does not consider ethic groups such as age, gender and sexual orientation then this can
effect the brands reputation and lead the target audience to not buy or visit any of the brands
tickets or events. This regarding Innovation leads to the conclusion that their brand does not have
any copyright symbols on their logo. Their legal and ethical signs on their print based
advertisement does not have
Copyright
‱ Copyright law: has been set up in order
to protect creators and their work. Ant
content that I not protected by this
copyright can be used by anyone
without the authors consent. Content
that is copyright protected can prevent
others from using their work without
their permission, otherwise the people
have to comply with eligible
prosecutions if caught. The 1998 Law
have now made that all original content
made by the creator should be
protected by copy right if someone was
to use it without their permission. By
doing so the users cannot claim the
authors work or righteous money.
