2009 > now Network Specialist / Manager ~ TeqDirect (Canada)
Selling and deploying large scale (complete company) networks (cable and fibre) including firewalls, switches,
server hardware for Windows and VMWare. Managing staff, projects, venders and suppliers. Marketing new prod-
ucts to replace old existing client infrastructure (including VoIP, IP PBX, NAS and printers). Full hands on experi-
ence dealing with design and deployment as an end to end solution provider.
2006 > 2009 Creative Design / IT Support ~ SFX Protocol (England)
Design and create working web forms using client based browser technologies (HTML, Javascript), create server
side scripting to integrate with server engines including email generation. Conversion and creation of media to
Dolby Laboratories standards including creation of DVD media with legal distribution rights displaying the Dolby
media logos. Sale, support and service of consumer IT needs while maintaining rigid deadlines.
2003 > 2005 IT Support ~ JWML (England)
Supporting all IT related equipment for around 200+ staff across all sites owned and supported by the company
(traveling to other locations when needed included HM Treasure in London). Keeping the call centre (around 40
staff) online at all times, project completion was of the upmost priority with the least amount of disruption.
1998 > 2001 Network Administrator / Data Security Officer ~ RHM (England)
Control over the support department and staff, authoritative control of all IT related equipment for around 400+ staff
across both sites owned by the company (traveling when needed). Design and deploy all projects organising and
control of external vendors when needed. Stand in for the IT Manager with capacity of final authoritative decisions.
2014 Project Manager & Designer ~ VMWare vCenter 4 server failover layout
Design, supply, build and install 4 HP servers running VMWare vSphere / vCenter with fibre direct attached storage
(RAID 5 and RAID 6) ready for failover and High Availability® in a 28 server environment. Project included specify-
ing 4 HP 3800 series 10Gb switches for complete 192 port POE site.
2012 Project Inception & Manager ~ Retail POS hardware design and migration
Concept, supply, build and install replacement Point of Sale terminals, replacement of current Windows desktops
with HP thin client terminals with touchscreens resulting in a robust low maintenance system. Network connected
Epson TM88 printers allowed instant printer change when needed. Leveraging the current in use servers and infra-
structure resulted in a streamlined low disruption install.
2011 Project Manager & Network Architect ~ Complete company move to new premises
Designing and sizing a server room layout, organising supply vendors, complete cabinet populate patch manage-
ment, switches and UPS layout, liaising with the cabling (phone) company, and making sure there system would
integrate where possible to the existing Windows Server 2008 Domain (i had deployed in 2009). Tested all network
ports, connecting PCs and personally moving the domain controller from the old to new site.
2011 Project Manager & Architect ~ Site server and physical network expansion
Replace an aging old server with the least amount of staff impact, included migrating live data and controlling soft-
ware vendors to adhere to strict timelines. A network expansion with the use of fibre in to the 1 acre warehouse to
allow connection to the existing CAT5 networking. Subcontractors were used for the fibre install and termination. I
completed the final install and commissioning of all hardware needed for full connectivity to make the warehouse
live, I also moved all warehouse computer hardware to the new office at the end of the fibre network and tested.
2010 Project Manager & Architect ~ Server room UPS sizing and deployment
Design and deploy a fully functioning 5kw UPS system for a complete server room to replace an overloaded failed
power management system. Research, sizing, rack fitments and installation of the hardware and management
software / clients for all servers needed then installed and tested.
2004 Data Conversation & Integration ~ Upgrade from Windows 98 to XP
Upgrade 30 call centre desktops to Windows XP, installing and testing all applications ready for use. Arranging
timeslots for each all agent, moving them to new desks then migrating there old PC. Adhering to strict deadlines
was top priority.
2003 Data Conversation & Integration ~ Migrate from GroupWise to Exchange
Install Microsoft Outlook on all desktops and connect to the new Microsoft Exchange server, then convert the data
from Novell GroupWise in to Outlook making sure nothing was lost.
2001 Project Manager ~ Reconfigure and optimise the corporate firewall
The corporate firewall was installed at a basic level (all ports active for all traffic). Research conducted on the staff
needs then organise the integration and change with as little disruption as possible. At this time all servers were
also secured giving access to services as needed (such as webservers, email and DNS).
2000 Project Manager ~ Installation of network communication between sites
Research and deployment of the network communication between Bristol 2 acre manufacturing plant and Reading 7
acre head office, successfully completing the project after several failed attempts by past IT staff.
