 It was invented in 1990 by Tim Berners-Lee and Robert

Cailliau of CERN (European Organization for Nuclear
Research), and announced on the internet by Berners-
 Lee in 1991.

                Tim Berner-Lee Robert Cailliau
 Hyper Text Markup Language

 It is a Language, as it has code-words and syntax like
any other language. Also known as one of the
document formats of the World Wide Web

 HTML is used to define the structure and layout of a
    Web page
 The fact that it is hyper just means it is not linear i.e. you

can go to any place on the Internet whenever you
want by clicking on links; there is no set order to do
  things in.
 Markup is what HTML tags do to the text inside them.
They mark it as a certain type of text (italic text, for
  example).
 Markup language is a text-formatting language
designed to transform raw text into structured
  documents
 HTML consists of a series of short codes typed into a

text-file by the site author, these are the tags. The text
is then saved as a html file, and viewed through
  a browser, like Firefox.

 This browser reads the file and translates the text into a

  visible form.
 Tells the Web browser how to display a Web page's

words and images for the user. It determines the look
and structure of a text like font type, size and color

 These websites can then be viewed by anyone else

connected to the Internet and Its relatively easy to
 learn.
 Different tags perform different functions.

 HTML is written in form of “html elements” consisting

of tags, enclosed by <angle brackets> within the
 webpage content for example <html>
 Attributes are always specified in the start tag
 Attributes provide additional information about an
    element
 Attributes come in name/value pairs like: name="value"
 Attribute Example
 HTML links are defined with the <a> tag. The link
address is specified in the href attribute:
 Example
 <a href="http://www.funkmode.com/">This is a link</a>
 Also HTML tags mostly come in pairs for example <h1>
  and </h1>
 <h1> is the start tag and (slash) </h1> is the end tag.
 In between html tags you can add
  text, images, tables, comments etc.
 The tags do not appear on the webpage but their
effects do when you view it on a browser like Firefox
  or Google Chrome etc.
