2. Hyper Text Markup Language
It is a Language, as it has code-words and syntax like
any other language. Also known as one of the
document formats of the World Wide Web
HTML is used to define the structure and layout of a
Web page
3. The fact that it is hyper just means it is not linear i.e. you
can go to any place on the Internet whenever you
want by clicking on links; there is no set order to do
things in.
4. Markup is what HTML tags do to the text inside them.
They mark it as a certain type of text (italic text, for
example).
Markup language is a text-formatting language
designed to transform raw text into structured
documents
5. HTML consists of a series of short codes typed into a
text-file by the site author, these are the tags. The text
is then saved as a html file, and viewed through
a browser, like Firefox.
This browser reads the file and translates the text into a
visible form.
6. Tells the Web browser how to display a Web page's
words and images for the user. It determines the look
and structure of a text like font type, size and color
These websites can then be viewed by anyone else
connected to the Internet and Its relatively easy to
learn.
7. Different tags perform different functions.
HTML is written in form of “html elements” consisting
of tags, enclosed by <angle brackets> within the
webpage content for example <html>
8. Attributes are always specified in the start tag
Attributes provide additional information about an
element
Attributes come in name/value pairs like: name="value"
Attribute Example
HTML links are defined with the <a> tag. The link
address is specified in the href attribute:
Example
<a href="http://www.funkmode.com/">This is a link</a>
9. Also HTML tags mostly come in pairs for example <h1>
and </h1>
<h1> is the start tag and (slash) </h1> is the end tag.
In between html tags you can add
text, images, tables, comments etc.
The tags do not appear on the webpage but their
effects do when you view it on a browser like Firefox
or Google Chrome etc.
