WHY DO WE NEED TO SET GOALS

change by increasing motivation towards the
desired outcome. An effective goal setting systems

achieve something we want.

SYSTEM
WHAT IS AN EFFECTIVE
PERFORMANCE
GOAL
Specific with numerical values
Moderate Difficulty
Supported by Process Goal
EVALUATION
Evaluation of Goal
Feedback on progress
To be effective, the performance goal (more on this later)
must be of a moderate but realistic difficult. It should be
specific with a numerical aspect (Percentages, targets,
dates) allowing for progress to be measured. Strategies or
process goals are flexible yet clearly defined steps of how to
achieve the performance goal.
An effective goal setting system allows for re-evaluation and
feedback on progress. In this sense, goal attainment
dependents on completing the process goals.
