• Look at where each dollar went
last year.
• Where can you cut costs?
• Where do you plan to
increase spending?

• Most people overestimate what they
can accomplish in a year.
• Conversely, most people
underestimate what they can
accomplish in five years.
• Stop saying “next year” is your year.
• MAKE next year your year.
• Get concrete and specific with your
goals.
• Break down what it will take to
achieve each goal.
• It will help you set realistic
expectations.

Work Backwards to Build

• Hitting your revenue goal means working
backward.
• Look at your net profit from last year.
• Which products or services
contributed the most to that number?
• Which contributed the least?
• What do you need to sell more of to get
to your new goal?
• How much more revenue do you need
for this goal?
• How much more expenses will you
accrue?

• Think about if you need to add new
products or services.
• Figure out whether you’re going to raise
or lower prices.
• Just “doubling your profits” is too
vague of a sales goal.
• Break down the plan to the quarterly,
and even monthly, level.
• This builds milestones into your
annual sales plan.
