9r2 Adoption Models
Since Ariba changed the Service Pack support policy,
Ariba has effectively asked On-Premise customers
to take 1 SP per year.
Additionally,
9r2 is expected to take slightly more time than a
Service Pack to adopt.

Archiving & Purging
• Areas Addressed
Country / Regional Retention Regulations
Industry Retention Regulations
Internal Retention Policy
External Data Storage
Although there is existing Archive/Purge
functionality in 9r1 Downstream, many
customers have found the functionality
difficult to implement due to poor
performance against their Production
instances.
In 9r2, Enhanced Data Archiving and
Purging will address these performance
concerns while simultaneously providing
additional enhancements, enabling
organizations to extract and permanently
delete data from their Ariba databases.

• Solution Highlights
Tighter Contract Compliance

Catalog Pricing Validation
Better Catalog Filtering
Ariba Procurement Content provides a
“catalog in the cloud” solution, pushing the
shopping experience from behind-the-
firewall to Ariba On-Demand.
Today, organizations can leverage APC as
part of their Ariba Buyer catalog solution for
standard purchases. With 9r2, tighter
integration between Ariba Buyer and APC
will allow organizations to leverage native
catalog features both “in the cloud” and
within their local Buyer catalogs.

Seamless Portlet Updates
Ariba Services Procurement (ASP) allows
organizations to identify, negotiate,
procure, and manage complex category
spend. Significant improvements and new
features are being introduced to ASP over
the next set of releases, providing new
functionality and capabilities to
Ariba customers.
With the release of 9r2/13s2, Ariba Buyer
customers will be able to integrate to ASP
On-Demand, allowing access to “services
procurement within the cloud”. With ASP
On-Demand integration, the benefits of a
cloud-based solution are delivered to
On-Premise customers.

Rejection Handling
• Solution Highlights
Invoice Status Clarification
Rejection Reasons
– Network Integration
– Forced Compliance
Email Rejection Handling
Using the Ariba Network allows for better
collaboration between buyers and
suppliers.
Ariba Buyer 9r2 will introduce
enhancements to invoice rejection
handling, allowing for invoice teams to
better communicate their reasons for
invoice rejection to suppliers, to better
track/report upon invoice rejection status,
and increase the percentage of touch-less
invoices.

Queue Management
• Solution Highlights
Structured Distribution of High-Volume
Documents
Configurable Queue Limits
Compatible with Existing System Groups
Large groups of users, such as Accounts
Payable, often require a more structured
approach to document processing to
ensure that users are not accessing the
same document at one time, that
documents are being appropriately
prioritized, and that users are not
overwhelmed by the volume of documents
that might hit the group.
Queue Management provides a
configurable, and backwards compatible,
method of managing document approval
and review workflows, enabling much more
efficient processing of high-transaction
volume documents.

Mobile/Portal API
• Solution Highlights
Server-Side API Calls to Facilitate
Mobile/Portlet Development
Framework for Definition of Custom Calls
Mobile access to Ariba functionality brings
spend management to users whether they
are at the computer, in a meeting, or on the
go. With 9r2, Ariba provides an extensible
server-side framework, allowing customers
to implement their business’s unique needs
into a mobile application while taking
advantage of standard data calls.
In addition to mobile capabilities, the Ariba
server-side API will support calls from
external portal applications (such as SAP
XXYYZZ), allowing
up-to-the-minute reviews of Ariba
information alongside the data from your
other applications.

Cancellation of
Auto-Received
Purchase Orders
• Solution Highlights
Flip Receipts from Auto-Receiving to
Manual
– Increased accuracy where needed
Negative Receiving
– Back out previously entered receipts
– Facilitates return of goods
Depending on configurable criteria, orders
can be auto-received by the system,
allowing for receipt compliance without
requiring the requester to take manual
actions to enter receiving data. At times,
however, the requester may want to make
manual changes to an auto-received order.
Ariba Buyer 9r2 introduces the ability to
“flip” auto-received orders to manually
receiving, allowing additional receiving
precision. Orders that are auto-received
can also be “flipped” after the auto-receipt
takes place, allowing users to back out any
auto-receiving as needed.

PO Close
Enhancements
• Solution Highlights
Option to adjust order during PO close
Automation of PO changes during the PO
close process
When an order is closed for further
receiving, many organizations also want to
adjust the PO based on the quantities
already received.
Starting in Ariba Buyer 9r2, users
will be able to close an order and
simultaneously process the changes
necessary to adjust the order
quantities to accurately reflect what
has been received.

Multiple Ship-To
• Solution Highlights

Templates
Specify multiple locations for shipping a
requisition through Shipping Templates
or by manually adding locations
Fully compatible with existing approval
rules and integrations
Organizations using Ariba Buyer often want
to distribute one line item, a kit of line
items, or an entire requisition of items to
multiple shipping locations in order to
facilitate a multi-location rollout or identical
order for several locations.
With 9r2, the process for creating a
requisition with the same items for multiple
locations will be streamlined, allowing users
to use a pre-defined shipping template to
define the locations to which an order can
be shipped and providing a much
faster process for defining multiple shipping
locations.

Regression testing is an essential
component of any change made to your
system. Selenium’s browser automation
capabilities allow your organization to

regression automation.
With 9r2, Ariba applications will allow the
use of Selenium for testing automation,
providing the necessary “hooks” to drive
the application in an automated fashion.

IPv6 Compatibility
• Solution Highlights
Support various transition technologies
Support a Dual-stack environment
The amount of connected devices is
multiplying at an exponential rate and
expected to surpass 22 billion devices by
2020. The world is quickly running out of
IPv4 addresses (Asia already has) and a
new standard has been rolled out called
IPv6 to accommodate all of these devices
and exponentially more.
Unfortunately, IPv6 addresses are
incompatible with IPv4 addresses and in
9r2 Ariba will allow the customer to support
these IPv6 devices natively and with
transition technologies.
