2. December 1st will mark the 4th
annual #GivingTuesday – a day of giving back to kick
off the holiday giving season. Each year, this event attracts more and more
participants – and more than 30,000 organizational partners - eager to do some
good. The strategically chosen day is the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber
Monday. In a very short time, #GivingTuesday has revolutionized year-end giving
and transformed it into a mainstream movement for social good.
2014 was the second year of Giving Tuesday in Canada and the results were
impressive. According to data from CanadaHelps the second annual GivingTuesday
Increased charitable donations in Canada by 75% on top of the previous year’s
GivingTuesday lift of 169%.
This is a powerful movement. We are excited to have you with us as we join this
#GivingTuesday !
#GivingTuesday: An Overview
3. • Began in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the
United Nations Foundation.
• A global day for people to give back, usually by donating to their
favorite nonprofits.
• #GivingTuesday launched a global movement that has engaged over
30,000 organizations worldwide.

#GivingTuesday nonprofits

minute at its peak)
• Not including Habitat Brant, there are already 15 organizations in
Brantford participating on GivingTuesday.ca

6. • As people give through the habitatbrant.org donation page
the progress bar will update to show the instant impact of
their gift.
•We are looking for 10 shares total across Facebook and
Twitter per participant
• On-site ReStore UNselfie Booth donations will be updated
live through Facebook and Twitter
• We are asking for a donation of $5
• If just 1.07% of Brantford’s population gives $5 to Habitat
Brant’s Home for the Holidays for Giving Tuesday, we will
reach our goal of $5000!

8. How do I #UNselfie?
• Donate $5 at habitatbrant.org
• Take a “selfie” with the sign provided
• Always use the hashtags #UNselfie and
#GivingTuesdayCa and #HabitatBrant
• Post it to Facebook and/or Twitter –
challenge 10 others to do the same
