GO OVER THIS (Concept 1)
Social Sciences is the branch of science devoted to the study of
human societies and the relationships among individuals within those
societies. The term was formerly used to refer to the field of sociology,
the original "science of society", established in the 19th century. In addition to
sociology, it now encompasses a wide array of academic disciplines, including
anthropology, archaeology, economics, human geography, linguistics,
management science, media studies, musicology, political science,
psychology, welfare and nursing studies and social history.
It is about people how they interact with others in their society and how
societies interact with each other. (www.quora.com)

life of communities, organizations and persons. This is about putting theories in to
practice and interfacing directly with the public.
Three main career tracks for applied social scientist:
• Counselling is one of the fields of applied social sciences as an application of
the social sciences, counselling provides guidance, help, and support to

Essential Questions
• What is the connection between social sciences and applied
social sciences?
• What is the relationship between social sciences and applied
social sciences?
• What is the impact of social sciences and applied social science
in the society?
With the pandemic brought by
COVID 19, there are a lot of social
problems that surface. One is the
Mental Health issues caused by
isolation and social restrictions.
People are experiencing anxieties
from mild to panic attack.

posts are evident as ways to
address the matter on Mental
Health.
The study of social sciences will
help us to understand the
relationship between man and his
interaction with his society. It is to
understand the social dynamics to
achieve the actualization of every
human in the society. The different
disciplines under social science are

means to be human in a humane
society. The Applied Social
Sciences are specific discipline
which is the application of social
science in the real-life context. Part
of this is identifying problems and
create evidence-based ways to
resolve the problems. The social
scientists like psychologists,
sociologists, anthropologists are
the ones involved and focused in
carrying out such works.
