This document provides an overview of home automation. It defines home automation as the automatic control of household appliances, security systems, lighting, and HVAC systems using electronic devices and software. The document discusses why home automation is useful by allowing for remote and seamless control of home functions from devices like smartphones. It then describes how home automation works using sensors, controllers, and actuators connected to devices like cameras, motion detectors, temperature sensors, and Arduino boards. The document outlines some common components of home automation systems like Bluetooth modules, microcontrollers, relays, and Android apps. It lists advantages like savings, safety, and convenience and gives examples of applications such as smart kitchens, security systems, health monitoring, and irrigation control

Home automation (also known as domotics) refers to the automatic and electronic
control of household features, activity, and appliances. Various control systems are
utilized in this residential extension of building automation. Some components of an
automated home may include the centralized control of security, locks on doors
and gates, appliances, windows, lighting, surveillance cameras and HVAC systems
(heating, ventilation and air conditioning).

The three main elements of a home security
system are:
● Sensors
● controllers
● actuators
10. PROCEDURE
10
● Step 1: In order to establish connection between the client and the server, the Wifi/Bluetooth option
in the Smartphone is enabled
● Step 2: It is connected to the Wifi/Bluetooth module of the system
● Step 3: Each electronic/electrical appliance in the system is connected to the digital pins on the
Arduino Uno Board
● Step 4: A Relay is used for connecting each device to the Arduino, which helps in converting high
Voltage supply to low voltage
● Step 5: A C-program is loaded on to the microprocessor chip on the Arduino Uno Board which
specifies what action is to be performed on receiving particular inputs
● Step 6: An Android Application has been developed which enables the end user to monitor and
control the appliances from any remote location
● Step 7: Socket Programming has been used to achieve client-server communication
● Step 8: Successful controlling and monitoring of appliances

Smart home automation is the era of smartphones and AI communicating to automate your home to be interconnected. Recently, voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home allow users to connect with home appliances.
Sensors can monitor changes in daylight, temperature or motion detection; home automation systems can then adjust settings to the preferred levels of a user.
Controllers refer to the devices—personal computers, tablets or smartphones—used to send and receive messages about the status of automated features in users homes.
Actuators may be light switches, motors or motorized valves that control a mechanism or function of a home automation system.

BTICINO proposes solutions for the energy distribution, for the communication and for the control of light, sound, climate and security. BTICINO is also a nice company, providing different varieties. If you have a low budget then you should go for this. No doubt you will be completely satisfied for what you have paid. Bticino works on Zigbee protocol.
