1483; sometimes also spelt Baber or Babar)

• After Babur fell seriously ill. Hedied at the
ageof 47 on 26 December 1530, and was

Humayun succeeded his father in 1531,as

SherShahSuri defeated Humayun at Chausain
1539 and at Kannauj in 1540, expelling him
from India. While wandering from one placeto
the other, his sonAkbar was born at Umrakote
on October 14, 1542.

Humayun'sTombin Delhi, India.
 Humayun conquered the Punjab, Delhi, andAgra, and reoccupied the throne of Delhi after
an interval of 15years.
 Humayun slipped and fell down the stairs and fractured his skull. Hiswas then carried to the
palace. Hedied on January 26, 1556.
 Abu'l-Fath Jalal ud-din Muhammad Akbar, popularly
known asAkbar, "THE GREAT”.
 Hewas born on 14 October 1542.
 Hewas Mughal Emperor from 1556 until his death. He
was the third and one of the greatest rulers of the
Mughal Dynasty in India.
 In 1556, Humayan died just months after retaking Delhi.Akbar
ascended the Mughal throne at the ageof 13, and became
Shahanshah ("King of Kings"). Hisregent was Bayram Khan,his
childhood guardian and an outstanding warrior/statesman.

at his time. AgraFort (1565), Lahore
Palace(1572), Fatehpur Sikri, Buland

Akbar died in 1605. Somesources say
Akbar became fatally ill with
dysentery.
 Nur-ud-din Mohammad Salim, known byhis
imperial name Jahangir was born on 30
August 1569, was the fourth Mughal
Emperor who ruled from 1605 until his
death in 1627.
 Jahangir was the eldest surviving son of
Mughal EmperorAkbar and was declared
successor to his father from an earlyage.
 Jahangir was married to "Shah Begam," a
princess from Amber, who killed herselfin
1605 out of shameat the rebellion of her
son, Prince Khusrau.
Jahangiropenly rebelled againsthisfather at first, but
waseventually reconciled; andonAkbar's death in
November 1605, he assumedthe throne.
Celebrationsat the accessionof Jahangirin 1600,
whenAkbarwasaway from the capital onan
expedition, Salimbrokeinto anopenrebellion, and
declaredhimselfEmperor.Akbarhadto hastilyreturn
toAgraandrestoreorder.There wasa time when
Akbarthought of putting his eldestgrandsonKhusrau
Mirza onthe throne instead of Salim.
Nur Jahan
 Mehr-Un-Nisa, or Nur Jahan, occupies an
important place in the history of Jahangir.
She was the widow of a rebel officer, Sher
Afgan, of Mughals
 Shewas a strong woman, soon she became
Jahangir's favourite queen and assumed
the title of Nur Jahan, 'Lightof the World‘.
 Nur Jahanherself came to exercise
considerable influence over her husband,
and Jahangir is said to have relied heavily
on her advice.
 Shazada Khuram also known as
Shahabuddin Muhammad ShahJahan, was
born on 5 January 1594. Hewas the fifth
Mughal Emperor.
 ShahJahanassumed the Mughal throne on
24 January 1628 in Agra, afew daysafter
the death of Jahangir.
 ShahJahanhasleft behind an extraordinary
architectural legacy. It was at his command
that the TajMahal was built in Agrain
memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz
Mahal.
Aurangzeb eventually triumphed in the successionstruggle by methodically
eliminating his brothers. Aurangzeb captured ShahJahanon 8 June1658, and had him
jailed at the Agra Fort, from where the old emperor could look wistfully at the glorious
Taj.ShahJahandied in captivity on 22 January 1666 (aged 72).

• Aurangzeb, Emperor ShahJahan'ssixth son, was born on
24th October 1618 and wrested India's crown from his
father before the end of June1658, after defeating his
brother‘s armies.
• Aurangzeb took his own father prisoner. Shuja's army was
routed in battle; and Murad was lured into afalse
agreement and takenprisoner. Daraeventually collected
together another force, suffered defeat as before, and
once again he fled; but soon he was betrayed by one of his
allies, and handed over to hisbrother.

  • 7. Humayun succeeded his father in 1531,as ruler of the Mughal territories in India. At the ageof 23 Humayun was an inexperienced ruler when he cameto power. Humayunwith hisfather Babur SherShahSuri defeated Humayun at Chausain 1539 and at Kannauj in 1540, expelling him from India. While wandering from one placeto the other, his sonAkbar was born at Umrakote on October 14, 1542. Humayunisreunited withAkbar
  • 8. Humayun'sTombin Delhi, India.  Humayun conquered the Punjab, Delhi, andAgra, and reoccupied the throne of Delhi after an interval of 15years.  Humayun slipped and fell down the stairs and fractured his skull. Hiswas then carried to the palace. Hedied on January 26, 1556.
  • 9.  Abu'l-Fath Jalal ud-din Muhammad Akbar, popularly known asAkbar, "THE GREAT”.  Hewas born on 14 October 1542.  Hewas Mughal Emperor from 1556 until his death. He was the third and one of the greatest rulers of the Mughal Dynasty in India.  In 1556, Humayan died just months after retaking Delhi.Akbar ascended the Mughal throne at the ageof 13, and became Shahanshah ("King of Kings"). Hisregent was Bayram Khan,his childhood guardian and an outstanding warrior/statesman.
  • 11. Many architectural masterpieces were built at his time. AgraFort (1565), Lahore Palace(1572), Fatehpur Sikri, Buland Darwaza andAllahabad fort (1583) were built during histime. Akbar died in 1605. Somesources say Akbar became fatally ill with dysentery.
  • 12.  Nur-ud-din Mohammad Salim, known byhis imperial name Jahangir was born on 30 August 1569, was the fourth Mughal Emperor who ruled from 1605 until his death in 1627.  Jahangir was the eldest surviving son of Mughal EmperorAkbar and was declared successor to his father from an earlyage.  Jahangir was married to "Shah Begam," a princess from Amber, who killed herselfin 1605 out of shameat the rebellion of her son, Prince Khusrau.

  • 14. Nur Jahan  Mehr-Un-Nisa, or Nur Jahan, occupies an important place in the history of Jahangir. She was the widow of a rebel officer, Sher Afgan, of Mughals  Shewas a strong woman, soon she became Jahangir's favourite queen and assumed the title of Nur Jahan, 'Lightof the World‘.  Nur Jahanherself came to exercise considerable influence over her husband, and Jahangir is said to have relied heavily on her advice.
  • 15.  Shazada Khuram also known as Shahabuddin Muhammad ShahJahan, was born on 5 January 1594. Hewas the fifth Mughal Emperor.  ShahJahanassumed the Mughal throne on 24 January 1628 in Agra, afew daysafter the death of Jahangir.  ShahJahanhasleft behind an extraordinary architectural legacy. It was at his command that the TajMahal was built in Agrain memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
  • 16. Aurangzeb eventually triumphed in the successionstruggle by methodically eliminating his brothers. Aurangzeb captured ShahJahanon 8 June1658, and had him jailed at the Agra Fort, from where the old emperor could look wistfully at the glorious Taj.ShahJahandied in captivity on 22 January 1666 (aged 72).   • 17. • Aurangzeb, Emperor ShahJahan'ssixth son, was born on 24th October 1618 and wrested India's crown from his father before the end of June1658, after defeating his brother‘s armies. • Aurangzeb took his own father prisoner. Shuja's army was routed in battle; and Murad was lured into afalse agreement and takenprisoner. Daraeventually collected together another force, suffered defeat as before, and once again he fled; but soon he was betrayed by one of his allies, and handed over to hisbrother.
