1. Open-hole completions, also called 'barefoot' completions, involve setting casing above the productive interval and drilling into and through the reservoir, leaving it uncased and exposed to the wellbore.
2. For a simple open-hole well completion, the process involves setting production casing above the zone of interest before drilling into it, leaving it open to the wellbore, and then installing wellhead equipment to control flow.
3. Key steps include drilling into the formation, installing wellhead valves and pipes to direct and burn off initial flow, and cleaning the well until the flow stabilizes before testing and starting production.

Well Completion Program
Completion, in petroleum production,is the process of making a well ready for production (or
injection). This principally involves preparing the bottom of the hole to the required
specifications, running in the production tubing and it’s associated down hole tools as well as
perforating and stimulating as required. Sometimes, the process of running in and cementing
the casing is also included.
Open-hole Completion
Open-hole completions are also termed 'barefoot' completions. In this type of completion the
casing is set in place and cemented above the productive interval(s). Further drilling extends
the well bore into and/or through the reservoir(s) which is left uncased, hence the term 'Open
Hole’.
This completion method is used where it is desirable to expose the whole of the productive
interval(s) to the well bore. The rock of the producing formations must be strong or
'consolidated' to prevent breakdown and collapse when in production
We will take a simple well completion for open-hole well to explain the operation steps:
1-The production casing is set on top of production zone before drill the production formation
that contains the hydrocarbon fluids, then after casing was cemented, producing formation
drilled.
2- The production casing is set above the zone of interest before drilling the zone. The zone
is open to the well bore. In this case little expense is generated with perforations log
interpretation is not critical. The well can be deepened easily and it is easily converted to
screen and liner. However, excessive gas and water production is difficult to control, and may
require frequent clean outs. Also the interval cannot be selectively stimulated.
3-After casing and cement the well without production zone, run the hole log tool for checking
the cement.
4-According to the pressure of the well, if the reservoir pressure is adequate to give a flowrate
fit to the casing is ok, if not install of tubing is performed.
5-Screen is reliable if set in the interval zone for preventing sand particles to the well bore.
6-Preforation is not require to the open hole.
7-Gravel pack is good if set in the interval zone.
8-The production zone is open to the well bore.
9-Set ‘BOP’ to the well.
10-Setthe well-head on the top of the well bore, thatinclude X-mass tree and master valve…..&
so on.

11-The well head valves must be connected to burn pipe to burn the fluid in burn pit.
12-The well opened to flow by small choke size for cleanout purpose, the hydrocarbons fluid
was burned in the burn pit that far about 300 meters from the well .
13-The burned of hydrocarbons was continued until the well cleaned from from completion
fluid or water or residual drill mud,and the well reached stabilized condition.
14-The surface facilites should be establish at surface.
15-Then the well closed and it will be ready to done evaluated test.
16-After that production can be started.
