3. INTRODUCTION
• Palm vein technology is one of the up coming technology which is highly secure.
• It is the world’s first contactless personal identification system that uses the vein patterns in
human palms to confirm a person’s identity.
• It is highly secure and accurate.
• It uses information contained within the body and is highly accurate because the pattern of veins
in the palm is complex and unique to each individual.
• Its contact less feature gives it a hygienic advantage over other biometric authentication
technologies.
4. BIOMETRICS
PHYSICAL BIOMETRICS
• Finger print
• Iris and retina
• Hand geometry
• Face recognisation
• Vein pattern
BEHAVIORAL BIOMETRICS
• Vioce patterns
• Signature identification

6. PALM VEIN TECHNOLOGY
• Palm vein authentication works by comparing the pattern of veins in the palm with the stored
database.
• Vascular patterns are unique to each individual, even identical twins have different patterns.
• Since the vascular patterns exist inside the body, they cannot be stolen by means of photography,
voice recording or fingerprints, thereby making this method of biometric authentication more
secure than others.
7. REGISTRATION THROUGH PALM VEIN
TECHNOLOGY
• It consists of a palm vein scanner which reads one's unique vein
pattern.
• Scanner emits near-infrared rays which detects the pattern of
deoxygenated blood flowing through the palm, causing it visible
as black regions to the scanner.
• Vein picture is taken and the palm pattern is registered.
• This registered pattern is stored in to database along with the
personel details of the client.
8. WORKING OF PALM VEIN SECURITY SYSTEMS
1.One should place his/her palms near to scanner.
9. 2.The scanner makes use of special characteristics of the reduced hemoglobin coursing through the palm veins-
it absorbs near-infrared light. This makes it possible to take a snapshot of what’s beneath the outer skin,
something very hard to read.
10. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE REGISTRED PALM GETS
DAMAGED?
1.Registring both palms while registration.
2.The vein pattern of the other palm can be
used if one palm is damaged.
11. 3.The integrated optical system in the palm vein sensor uses this phenomenon to generate an image
of the palm vein pattern and the generated image is digitized, encrypted and finally stored as a
registered template in database.

PALM VEIN TECHNOLOGY
12. SECURITY PROVIDED WITH THIS SYSTEM
1.Vein system has false rejection rate of 0.01% and the false acceptance rate of 0.00008%.
2.If profile is registered with right hand, we cannot log in with left hand as the palm pattern of
both hands are different.
3.And if we registered our profile as a child, it still can be recognized as we grow, as an
individual.
13. ADVANTAGES
• No more problems of forgetting passwords and id-codes.
• Hidden characteristics are used as biometric features.
• It is not effected by dryness or roughness of skin or by physical injuries on the surface of hand.
• It is difficult to forge for intruders.
• It is contactless, hygenic and non invasive.
15. CONCLUSION
• Palm vein pattern recognisation is convenient and easy to use biometric with high accuracy and
security.
• If this technology is introduced is our country we can solve many problems such as password
protection in ATM .
• If we implement this technology in government offices we can make the employees to work
according the government.
• Surely, this technology will bring a revolution if it is implemented in the field of science and
technology in near future.
