2. If you’re considering cloud based application delivery
(read VDI & related avataars), you know what it can
do for you but lets just make sure you know it all
Traditional vendors and their engagement models

4. THE VDI ADVANTAGE…
Guaranteed availability >99%
Consistent application performance with no brown-outs
Reduced blended cost of application delivery
Computing Maximize resource utilization
Reduce end-point power consumption by 85%
Direct 50% reduction in cooling
Reduced Carbon Footprint and contribute to Green IT Agenda
Business Avoids seat movement/ creation as any terminal can be emulated in the end-points
Continuity Disaster recovery option ensures uninterrupted business operations
Mobility of Enables greater workforce mobility with options of work from home and access from anywhere
Resources Support for diverse range of end-points including tablets
Control and responsibility for monitoring and problem solving shifts to a centralised NOC.
Data Security
Standardized desktop operating environment with real time updates to software, security etc.
A combination of process and technology can affect changes in as short as 30-40
Rapid Scale minutes which can have direct impact on business and brand recall

5. …DOES THE ADVANTAGE TRANSLATE INTO REALITY?
Works at POC stage but performance falters when scaled
Target ROIs not met
Ongoing management costs higher than anticipated – unable to get economies of scale
Why it happens Ideally speaking…
A successful adaptation keeps the users at

The changed information flows affect all
Inadequate planning for changes in

9. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
None of the providers have incentive to see that you
meet your ROI or give you SLAs on end-user satisfaction
on a continuing basis.
So the in-house IT team is left managing the new
technology.
But does the in-house team have the skills to manage
the new virtualised environment?
9
10. SO YOUR PERFECT PARTNER…
…should be able to DESIGN a PRIVATE CLOUD that is scalable and future ready at a broad
level and can optimize network architecture with deterministic bandwidth requirements at a
micro level (in a cloud environment).
…can MAP & SEGMENT USERS in order to architect/design the right mix of cloud
technologies thus optimizing budgets rather than providing unnecessary all access passes or
conversely providing low-end computing where more is needed.
…is able to take your ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS and INTEGRATE them with the cloud so you
don’t end up reinventing the wheel.
…can take all of the above (and the related multitude of vendors), MANAGE and MONITOR it
END-TO END via composite SLAs.
…will only make you PAY PER USE.

12. AND ORGANIZATIONS ARE TAKING HEED
According to a Symantec’s Virtualization and Evolution to the Cloud Study of 2011
conducted across 3,700 enterprises across 35 different countries:
~65% of organizations said they depend quite a bit/ completely on third parties for
their VDI deployment
50% said they’d choose a VAR
62% said they’d partner with an independent consultant

14. ANUNTA – A PROFILE
Anunta is a next generation IT services company that is focused on designing cloud-based
application delivery architectures and providing on-going management of this environment
In today’s cloud-age companies Anunta can be classified as a Cloud Services Broker. A cloud

hosting to the point of consumption or usage and is therefore able to provide performance
guarantees on end-user experience
Anunta’s expertise and engagement model enables enterprises to introduce cloud
technologies in the application delivery in a significantly de-risked manner
Anunta has deep domain experience of the virtualization technologies, devices,
architectures and application delivery management processes having worked in the
virtualisation space since mid 2006

Siva: Technology OEMs : Are they best described as hardware or software providers? Is the description of what SIs do accurate? Should Rope In be substituted with Co-ordinate for example? What is the difference between Technology OEMs and pure-play VDI Players? Is this a recognised category/terminology? Should we substitute pure VDI players with Gartner’s Cloud Services Brokers Instead?
Siva-Jaydip: Who are pure-play VDI vendors? Shahnaz: Facility Management needs to be changed to Desktop Vendors.
In number of clients: 20 refers to Firstsource clients where all provider is counted as 1 client, all collections is counted as 1 client. Point to consider is that the more clients you show, the smaller each client appears in size. End-points under management needs to be sorted out. What I have from Siva and what we have so far been claiming is open to discussion.
I suggest we split this slide into two slides with the benefits put on a separate slide so that we can dwell on each of these and provide more granularity on the benefits. So for example the next slide illustrates the IT management benefits. We could create a similar slide on Key end-User benefits & Business Benefits slide listing the various parameters where we make a difference
We are already doing virtualization and Thin clients. What value add you will bring in?Our Answer: During the initial phase of the engagement model we spend time with the clients to understand their IT environment. Based on the complexity and need of the users we categorize them to various profiles. Also we measure the maturity index of the current technology deployment at the client premises and suggest steps to improve them or manage. If the client has got a well established application delivery setup we offer them the complete end-to-end management service in which we will deliver the SLA’s consistently. This would avoid clients to deal with various OEM’s and manage the complex application performance issues.
