Rationale:
Throughout the 2 years of college, I’ve thrived in making videos. I have made 2 music videos and
2 factual documentary projects. In my last project I made a social media styled factual project
which showed how to integrate sportswear into fashionable outfits. I also included a section which
goes into how the sports fashion industry has grown in the last 10 years. After doing this project it
taught me how to structure a factual video and because it was for a 16–24-year-old audience,
Ways to make videos with social media conventions with intention to make a younger audience
more engaged and familiar. As the last project was fashion related and made in a factual manor it
will help me going onto my FMP because it gave me the chance to experiment and develop my
skills in documentary making and generating more ideas.
Project Concept:
For my FMP I want to make a fashion factual documentary where I explore the different fashion
aesthetics of youths and what they are influenced by. My intention is to make my audience see the
good in other clothes which they may not wear themselves and hopefully influence them try
something new. The video is going to involve interviews from youth about their influences and
intentions when they dress the way they dress and lots of videography cinematics to capture
models in different fashion aesthetics in a satisfying style. In my research I will have to investigate
lots of existing products which include the same ideas which I want to make. Looking at things
which are already out their can give me ideas which I can implement into my initial idea to improve
the overall project. There are also specific editing techniques which people use in videography
which I would like to do some research on to make sure I can satisfy my audience and make
something to a high standard. I would like to go into the toxicity between youths when it comes to
fashion and give some facts from research, I will take on suggesting that it’s a problem and should
stop.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I plan on vlogging my journey weekly throughout the project to evaluate my successes and
dilemmas. This way I can plan my time well ahead and change my work plan to fit for the best
finish to the project possible. Once I have completed my production it will be important to share
and get some feedback to on the finished version to then evaluate it. In my evaluation at the end I
plan to highlight the full journey from beginning to end, parts which ran successfully and parts
which I struggled and how I can improve for next time I make a similar project.
