DEVELOPMENT OF ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS
WITH THE AID OF ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Implemented pilot project along with user
feedback:
⮚ 3D Printing Technology or (Additive manufacturing-AM) is that build 3D objects by adding layer-upon-layer of material, based
on the CAD model in the form of stereolithography format (.stl). It is the most common file types that 3D printers can read. In our
project it builds a three-dimensional object from computer-aided design (CAD) model or AMF file by successively adding pulp or
slurry material layer by layer using plunger type module.
⮚ And we came are enhancing the design and development of the desired shapes within limited time using an agricultural waste
materials as a raw material. It ha been planned to carry out tests at different levels such as
a) Stability
b) Sturdy and flexibility
c) Water repellent and thermal property

⮚Plunger
⮚Nozzle with heating element
⮚Bed with vertical movement
⮚Cooling fan
⮚Structural members
⮚Motors
⮚Arduino board
⮚Power supply unit

Impact of the proposed solution:
⮚ Usually, 3D printers use plastic, because it is easier to use and cheaper.
3D printers can 3D print with materials, like PLA and ABS Filaments.
⮚ We have come with a ideation of replacing PLA And ABS Filaments with
bagasse (ie, Sugarcane Waste) to print it into useable products by using 3D
Printer.
⮚ By this we can reduce the usage of plastic and Promote the environment
with Eco Friendly products.
Impact of the proposed solution:
⮚ Wastage of Bagasse is reused.
⮚ Biodegradable products is manufactured at ease
⮚ Usage of Plastics is avoided.
⮚ Hygienic with zero effects .
⮚ Good alternator for plastics.
Implementation and outreach plan:
⮚ There are some industries that are currently more drawn to technology, you will notice
that 65% of demand for 3D printing tech derives itself from engineers working in the
development of industrial, electrical or consumer goods.
⮚ 3D printing is expected to grow nearly 23.5% each year for the next five years.
⮚ So It’s the right time to change the plastic filament to eco friendly filament.
⮚ We have designing & fabricating a 3D printer which prints a product out of biodegradable
waste which leads to a zero waste future
Financial implication for the village:
⮚ 3D printing technology knowledge is not widely known to rural part of our nation, by using this
technology with the waste material as filament the village people can be able to print products
on their own while gaining a wide knowledge on the 3D printing field.
⮚ PLA Filaments used to 3D print costs more (i.e.,1x 1.75mm 10 Meter PLA Filament costs
above Rs.1000) and also gives a non-biodegradable material as a product
⮚ This 3D printing process can be used to Enhance the Income of the sugarcane farmers by
converting the bagasse from the sugarcane waste to a raw material for developing the
biodegradable products.
