3. Professional Experience
Own Project – Jan 2015 / Jul 2015 – WEB Framework Development (5th
generation)
Development of an Application Development Framework with the following requirements:
 Parametric code (totally configurable through parameters)
 State-full code (can be stopped and discarded at any time, restauring automatically it's
saved inner state when restarted)
 Completelly modular
 Total independence between the architecture and model and the programming language
in which it is implemented
 Able to be used in WYSIWIG appliction development in a browser context (treating
browser windows just as a normal desktop window, on the client side)
Under a complete overall and redesign, at the moment, for it's 5th
generation, making it
completelly independent from the programming language in which it is implemented (it was
started with PHP 3, and later re-writen in PHP 5), with planned versions for the following
programming languages:

Own Project – Dec 2014 / Jan 2015 – IT Consultant (One Global)
Development of 3 WEB based applications and a WEB Development Framework, for future
works.
The work for this enterprise required me to sign a NDA.
Own Project – Dec 2013 / Mai 2014 – IT Consultant (Magnet Tech)
Development of a WEB Development Framework, to replace the one they had been using
(developed in PERL, in-house), to be developed in PHP and using Bootstrap 3 as the UI
counterpart.
Own Project – Nov 2013 / Nov 2013 – IT Consultant (Golden Service)
IT consultant work on updating configuration on a Checkpoint firewall at a Golden Service client.
Own Project – Jan 2013 / present – IT Consultant (Metalstone – Facility Services)
After the creation of Metalstone – Facility Services (which took over Metalstone – Portugal
activities) I continue my work as IT Consultant, for Metalstone – Facility Services, taking care of
all IT, which covered (not exaustivelly):
• Management of the internal Windows SBS server (Windows 2003, Exchange and MSSQL
Server) – mantained only by legal requirements (it holds the old financial and accounting
information, that must be kept available until 2018, by legal reasons).
• Management of the Windows computers (installing software, maintenance tasks, etc)
• Complete redesign of Metalstone website – done in phases, due the need of continuity (work still
in progress and due to be finished by the end of 2015).
Own Project – Jan 2011 / Jul 2011 – Professional Trainner
Professional trainner, on a 3 year duration professional trainning action, for long term un-
emplyoees, for IEFP (Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional). I taught several modules,
such as, Programming, Office Applications, Multimedia, Network Fundamentals and UML.

3. Own Project – Mai 2010 / Jul 2010 – Professional Trainer
Professional trainer, on a 1 year duration professional training action, for long term un-emplyoees,
for IEFP (Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional). I taught the 3 modules on Java
Programming for WEB Development.
Own Project – Mar 2010 / Dec 2012 – IT Consultant (Metalstone - Portugal)
I worked as IT Consultant for Metalstone Portugal, taking care of all IT and implementing
necessary changes due to downsizing restruturation, which covered (not exaustivelly):
• Management of the internal Windows SBS server (Windows 2003, Exchange and MSSQL
Server).
• Management of the Windows computers (installing software, maintenance tasks, etc)
• Internal network restructuring, to make access to the Internet independent from the Windows
SBS Server.
• Normal and regular backups of data on the Windows SBS Server.
• Implementation of remote monitoring and network incident reporting 24/7.
Own Project – Jan 2010 / Ago 2010 – Professional Training Supervisor
I supervised a Professional Training at Universal Serv, for a trainee finishing it's 12th
grade, on his
project final graduation project, at which he had to develop a WEB interfaced application using
PHP and OOP paradigm, with several databases as data storage (different databases for the
WEB application itself and the application data).
Own Project – Jan 2009 / Mar 2012 – IT Consultant (Universal Serv)
Worked as IT Consultant for Universal Serv, delivering technical skills for the enterprise activities,
which covered (not exaustivelly):
• Technical support for after sales support on computers and other IT products
• Assembly of a Linux (as the OS) and other software, as the installed base OS and software for
computers sold by Universal Serv.
• Development on a WEB interfaced application for internal use, to manage stocks and sales.

4. ES Viagens – Set 2008 / Ago 2009 – DSI – System's and Network Administrator
Although not as an emploee but under contract, I keep my previous functions, while taking a
Master of Science in IT (Information Security) at University of Liverpool (through e-learning),
which started in July 2008.
ES Viagens – Out 2001 / Ago 2008 – DSI – System's and Network Administrator
ES Viagens is a market leader in the travel business, in Portugal, having it's own travell operator
(ES Operadores) and being present with various brands (Top Atlantico, CWT Portugal, Viagens
Tagus, Net Viagens).
Reporting directly to the IT department director, I had the responsability of all infrastructure
providing access to the Internet, internal servers (Intranet) and external servers (Internet).
Achievements:
 I designed and implemented the whole physical infrastructure for the hosting of the internal
Intranet web-site.
 I restructured the whole email system to a system having internal mail accounts (Intranet) and
external email accounts (visible on the Internet).
 I designed and implementd a ring-segmented structure in the access path to the Internet, with
contention zones for the internal servers, external servers and several physical access to the
Internet, through diferent ISPs.
 I implemented an anti-virus system in the e-mail servers (both in the internal mail servers and
in the external mail servers).
 I have concieved and implemented the access infrastructure for the ES Viagens travel oprator
site, with controlled access to the internal travel reservation system (a proprietary system)
and to the internal business database (Oracle).
 I designed and colaborated in the implementation of the access network, designed as a
ringed access structure, providing access from the internal network to the Internet (through
several Internet accesses, from different ISPs) having on it's access path 3 pairs of
Checkpoint firewalls (full redundant, with load balacing – both firewals were operating
simultaneously during normal operation), with the inner one implemented with 2 HP DL-360
G3 servers, the middle one with 2 middle range Nokia appliances and the outer one with 2
smaller Nokia appliances.
All of them with Checkpoint Firewall-1 (the inner one over Linux, and the others over Nokia
version of unix (BSD unix). The Checkpoint suppervision and management was implemented
with a dedicated and separated management network.
This was, back in 2003, the first Checkpoint instalation with redudant nodes implemented with
the multicast loadbalancing feature of Checkpoint Firewall-1, over Linux, in Portugal.
 I designed and implemented a SPAM classification and filtering system, for email SPAM
filtering, with SPAM retention on quarenteen and WEB based monitoring, with Mail Scanner
and and other Open Source software, and mail log on MySQL database, on a mail system
with av average of 90000 to 100000 incomming mails / day.
 I designed and implemented a system for controled access to inner resources and systems,
from the Internet, through a OpenVPN VPN Server, without direct network access but using
specific point-to-point IP-tunnels, from the external OpenVPN server to each internal acessed

5. service (IP:port from the outter ring to the correspondent IP:port on the inner network) with
service's access defined point-to-point.
L8 TI – Jan 2001 / Jul 2001 – Development – Technical Director
L8 TI was, at it's time, the solely enterprise, in Portugal, betting only in linux based solutions,
being, at that time, the representative of Mandrake Linux, in Portugal.
Reporting to the Board of the company, I had the responsability to lead the development team
developing customized solutions for clients in Linux.
Achievements:
 During January and February of 2001, I was at Terravista (one of the major Internet portals,
in Portugal, at its time), as an external auditor / consultant conducting a security audit and
external functions of System and Network Administrator.
 From March 2001 to July 2001, I led the development of software solutions based on WEB
interface supported on Linux and of-the-shelf hardware, using PHP 3, at the time.
Escrita Virtual – Jun 1999 / Dez 1999 – IT Department – Systems and Network Administrator
I was one of the 5 partners that created Escrita Virtual, in 1999, to work on WEB development.
My responsabilities were, mainly, along being the chief technical architect, to assist to all activities
relating the technical part of our work, either inside the company, as outside, on our clients.
Achievements:
 Setup of the internal WEB server, on which the WEB development was done and tested,
before being uploaded to our own external WEB server, hosted on the ISP datacenter.
 Development of CGI based dynamic content.
Terracarta – Out 1998 / Mai 1999 – IT Department – IT Technical staff
Terracarta was an enterprise operating on the area or digital cartographic services and digital
cartografic information.
Reporting to the company owner, I had, as one of my duties, the management of all IT
infrastructure along with the project of the development on a hardware portable platform for
mobile use, to be the base of digital cartographic information.
Achievements:
 Restructuring of the internal TCP/IP network to make it use private range IP addresses and
private internal DNS server.
 Implementation of the Internet access gateway and internal email and Intranet WEB server.
 Optimization of internal LAN in order to support the huge network traffic volume created by
the huge files that resulted from the digitilazation of aerial cartographic photography.
 Development of the hardware and software for a portable platform that could be used to
carry digital cartographic information, to supply digital maps, in the field, in real time, from
geographic coordinates supplied by a portable GPS.
Time Sharing – Abr 1998 / Set 1998 – Help Desk support

6. Enterprise, belonging to the Portugal Telecom Group, that was choosen to supply Help Desk
support to the Intranet created for the Portuguese World Exibition Expo 98 (Oceanet 98).
The Help Desk Team had, as it's mission, to aswer to all problems that arised at the level of
network and service configuration.
Achievements:
 Instalation of the final segments of the structured network cabling in the pavilions of the
participating countries and their certification to 100 Mbits (100BaseT).
 Instalation of the required software for access to the Oceanet 98 (IE 4.0, Outlook Express and
Oracle Video Client).
 Help Desk Support, from 22.05.1998 to the 31.09.1998, to solve all reported problems, by the
participating countries in the Expo 98, as part of the Help Desk Services supplied to all the
exibition participants.
Despodata – Out 1997 / Abr 1998 – Independent IT Consultant
Despodata was an enterprise that supplied bespoked solutions, based on Informix Dbs and
developed in 4GL and Java.
Reporting to one of the partners, that had the responsability of all the development area, I work
on the developmnent of applications in 4GL.
Publivirtual – Jun 1996 / Dez 1996 – IT Deparment – System's and Network Adminsitrator
This enterprise was created, inside the Lusomundo Group, for the online edition and development
of the 1st
magazine exclusively edited in digital support, here in Portugal (Portugal Virtual).
Reporting to the enterprise director, I had to my responsability all IT infrastructure.
Achievements:
 Development, implementation and administration of the internal Intranet
 Implementation and administration of the server accessible on the Internet (hosted on the
ISP datacenter)
 CGI development and online store's development
Imirumática – Abr 1994 / Jun 1996 – Technical Department – IT Director
Own enterprise, with 2 other partners, dedicated to the comercialization of equipments and
services in Electronics, Computers and Telecomunications.
I had to my responsability all the technical area.
Own Project – Jun 1993 / Abr 1994 – Technical Translator
I developed this personal project, having as client the Translation Department of AB Volvo.
Working together with my father, I supplied him with the technical competences to work in SGML,
required for the translation work that started to be done in SGML documents by that time.

I developed this project having as clients, among others, Luis M. Domingues – Comercialização
de Informática and NEXT – Publicidade Exterior, Lda.
Ibertil – Fev 1990 / Ago 1991 – Technical Department – Telecomunication's Technician
A leading enterprise, at its time, on electronic analog time-sharing PABXs (TDM-PAM), it was the
representative in Portugal of JS Telecom.
The technical department had as it's mission performing wiring, installation of equipment and its
configuration and programming.
Achievements:
 Implementation of modifications on the TDM-PAM analog PABXs for it's approval on C.E.T.
(the official conforming testing telecomunication laboratory) in Aveiro, so those
implementations could be included in the equipments sold in Portugal.
 Thourough study of the PABXs to allow the enterprise not to be totally dependent from the
manufactor regarding technical information.
 Technical support to the Comercial Department, both pre-sale and after-sale
