PROFESS IONAL EXPERIENCE
Overseas-AST Dubai, UAE 2011 – Present
Marine Superintendent / Designated Person Ashore
Lead and manage the onshore marine team including Port Captain, Port Engineer, Superintendents and
Marine Officers.
Responsible for the day to day running, certification, maintenance and logistics of company vessels within
the Overseas-AST fleet based in the Middle East. Role also included the financial budgeting for the vessels,
dry dock planning and execution, purchasing and crewing, ensuring that the fleets equipment is in a fully
operational state of readiness at all times.
Create the company dry docking schedule for repairs and maintenance; project management of two dry
docks for two AST marine units.
Ensure that all local and international regulations such as SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ILO, IMO
Conventions, IMCA, Classification, UAE Flag Administration rules, Client Code of Practices and regulations
are properly and timely implemented on board and onshore.
Established and ensure the continuous development of the company Marine Safety Management System
(SMS) for Marine Operations and Diving as well as continuously developing a safety culture within AST.
As Designated Person, Ashore, ensure the safe operation of each ship and provide a link between the
company and those on board. With direct access to the highest level of management, ensure the monitoring
of safety and pollution prevention aspects of the operation of each ship and to ensure that adequate
resources and shore based support are applied, as required.
Lead auditor for all marine units, diving audits, and onshore management system audits, DOC audits,
internal and external to ensure all non-compliances are closed.
Lead investigator for all marine related incidents; determine root causes and establishing corrective actions
and reporting to company OPCOM board.

Overall I/C of marine movements, diving services and site coordination.
Responsible for the safe operation and project production of 14 vessels and 200+ personnel at site ranging
from tugs, construction barges, anchor handlers and crew boats.
Responsible for correlating the monthly manpower and plant reports relating to site operations.
Direct input on all MS/RA HIRA, FMEA writes. Site operational trials, personnel assessments and incident
root cause analysis and dive audits to ensure that all reports are issued to a high standard such that
company reputation within the oil and gas industry is maintained at all times.
Overall responsibility of all MS/RA and lift plans for all site lifting operations on site as the company
appointed person.
Key Achievements
Responsible for final approval of 44 pipeline launches including launch from land, towing to location,
sinking, tie in, and derigging of all equipment.
Reduced the launch, tow and tie in of each pipe line from 6 days to 3 days saving a total of 130 days from
the program and significantly reducing project costs.
Achieved an outstanding HSE record with no lost time injury.
Marine Superintendent 2011 – 2012
Coordinated ZADCO audits and close outs to gain vessel approvals for oil field operations.
Project Management including, establishment of project method, risk assessments, job site analysis and
maintaining close correspondence with the client and oil company.
Set up of construction barge with 150t crane and full IMCA dive system.
Responsible for the barge load out plans and barge mobilizations from mainland Abu Dhabi to Zirku Island
including close coordination with the local petroleum port authorities, harbour masters and radio rooms.
Responsible for the timely unloading of the barges at Zirku Island so not to disturb the official port
operations of the islands oil production.
Set up of the temporary construction site and welding stations on Zirku Island.

Coordination of all employees arriving onto island, accommodation, induction and transport arrangements
for 80 persons ranging from VIP’s, project management and labour.
Overall I/C for the pipe launches, towage and welding on board the pipe lay barge.
