Language Content : Vocabulary on the description(adjectives) of physical parts of
the body and limited vocabulary on personality.

Objective : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :
- participate verbally in lesson by giving
ideas/examples/opinion on the matters discussed
- Filling the missing information on description of appearance
based on the picture/figures on the hand-outs
- discuss and communicate verbally in pairs to describe
his/her partner in a fun environment
- selected pairs will have to present the description to the
whole class
- participate in a fun guessing game. “Who’s who?”. Each
person will have to describe one appearance of his/her
friend (the name of the person will be given by the teacher
solely to him/her) and the teacher will ask them to pass in
circle. His/her next friend need to guess who and add one line
of description. This will go on until 5-6 round and the last
person need to guess ‘who’ was described. The only true
statement was the first line. A reward will be awarded for the
correct guess or a ‘fine’ will be given for the wrong guess.

-Tr plays an overall view of the specific attributes for
any individuals on LCD presentation.
- Tr plays a series of pictures of people’s attributes to
introduce the Ss to the theme of this topic
- At the same time, Ss need to refer to the
overall description of people as in hand-outs
- Probing time, Tr asks about :
√ Have you ever met a man with green eyes before?
√ How to describe this man/woman/baby positively?
√ How do you describe about this face’s shape?
√ Observe, then compare and contrast between the
pictures
√ Stress on politeness –other statement should be used
to describe the appearance of people with new
vocabulary. (e.g. ‘fat’ – rude ; use ‘a bit overweight’)
- Tr states the importance of these new vocabularies in
everyday’s life and the lesson afterwards.

- Tr recall and discuss the overall description of the
parts of the body on the whiteboard
√ body figure- different types of physical body
√ overall description from head to toe
√ a figure of a person from head to toe with empty
labels of parts of body ( just a recall)
- Tr plays the LCD presentation :

√ Ss need to respond quick to describe the appearance
as the Tr flashes the picture/figure of people (hint : Ss
refer to the hand-out) by referring to h-out A.
√ Tr will prompt the questions as in induction section
above
√ Emphasize on the morality

- Based on the observation , Ss need to listen, observe,
examine, think, and then fill in the missing blank for 2
people (from the slide Pres B)

(10 mins)
- Tr stresses on not to use the cliche’ or any overused
or common words such as to avoid using thin, fat,
etcetra.
- Tr emphasize the Ss to use new vocabulary as they
learn today to familiarize with the words
- Tr assigns partner for each S. He/She needs to
observe the partner’s face/ any .
- Ss fill in the missing blank
- Based on H-out C, each stud must rewrite into the
box . (either f-i-blank or add own words)
- Finally, the selected Ss needs to present with his/her
partner and describes his/her appearance to the whole
class.

- Before game, Tr flashes on the previous slides
- Tr listen to the vocabularies used and improvise
- Game start, Class is arranged possibly in circle
- Tr will give confidentially to each Ss a name of
his/her friend that he/she needs to describe
- Tr will tell the rules of the game:
 Ss is not allowed to tell the name though gender is
allowed
 Only physical appearance and personality
 Ss should not use any humiliation such as ‘fat’ etc.
Better to avoid the common words
 Ss is not allowed to tell who is he/she describing
- Each Ss needs to have a piece of paper
- Tr will give them some time to think of the first
statement of vivid description of his/her friend
- Now, the Ss need to write only one line
- Next, Tr will ask to rotate the paper counterclockwise
within the circle and pass to the next friend.
- The next friend needs to look around and observe his
classmates and guess who as portrayed by his/her
friend and add one more description line
- This process will occur up to 5 to 6 rounds. The last
person who receives the paper will need to guess who
is the person. Only the first description line was
accurate.

ELT/HAS08/COPYRIGHTS RESERVED PEOPLE : PHYSICAL APPEARANCES Description about people including the physical description, body posture, occupation, etc. 1- Physical description- appearance 2- Occupation 3- Personality 4- Activities LESSON PLAN Subject : English Topic : Writing a recount Theme : Values ( Appearance) Class : Form 3 Blessful Enrolment : 26 Level : Intermediate to Excellent Time : 10.00-1110 a.m. (70 minutes) Date : Focused Skills : Speaking Integrated Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing Previous Knowledge : A basic knowledge of parts of body and describing people’s personality. Learning Outcomes/ : 1.0 Language for interpersonal use Curriculum Specifications : 1.2b) Participating in conversations and discussions 2.0 Language for informational use 2.1 a) listening to spoken texts such as dialogues, figures, pictures, and from other multimedia sources 2.2 a) skimming, and scanning for specific information and ideas 2.3 a) descriptive conversation, instructions, recounts, announcement, using appropriate format and conventions. Language Content : Vocabulary on the description(adjectives) of physical parts of the body and limited vocabulary on personality. . 1

ELT/HAS08/COPYRIGHTS RESERVED Objective : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to : - participate verbally in lesson by giving ideas/examples/opinion on the matters discussed - Filling the missing information on description of appearance based on the picture/figures on the hand-outs - discuss and communicate verbally in pairs to describe his/her partner in a fun environment - selected pairs will have to present the description to the whole class - participate in a fun guessing game. “Who’s who?”. Each person will have to describe one appearance of his/her friend (the name of the person will be given by the teacher solely to him/her) and the teacher will ask them to pass in circle. His/her next friend need to guess who and add one line of description. This will go on until 5-6 round and the last person need to guess ‘who’ was described. The only true statement was the first line. A reward will be awarded for the correct guess or a ‘fine’ will be given for the wrong guess. Moral Values : Pair work, teamwork, politeness and frankness Thinking Skills : 1.Evaluating 2. Comparing and contrasting 3. Classifying, Grouping and Categorizing 2

ELT/HAS08/COPYRIGHTS RESERVED Stages/Time Teaching-learning Activities Materials & aids/Remark Induction (12 mins) -Tr plays an overall view of the specific attributes for any individuals on LCD presentation. - Tr plays a series of pictures of people’s attributes to introduce the Ss to the theme of this topic - At the same time, Ss need to refer to the overall description of people as in hand-outs - Probing time, Tr asks about : √ Have you ever met a man with green eyes before? √ How to describe this man/woman/baby positively? √ How do you describe about this face’s shape? √ Observe, then compare and contrast between the pictures √ Stress on politeness –other statement should be used to describe the appearance of people with new vocabulary. (e.g. ‘fat’ – rude ; use ‘a bit overweight’) - Tr states the importance of these new vocabularies in everyday’s life and the lesson afterwards. (Pres A) Hand-out A -double-sided LCD Projector - MS Power Point’s Presentation Laptop Development a) Presentation (10 mins) - Tr recall and discuss the overall description of the parts of the body on the whiteboard √ body figure- different types of physical body √ overall description from head to toe √ a figure of a person from head to toe with empty labels of parts of body ( just a recall) - Tr plays the LCD presentation : (Selected Slides Only) √ Ss need to respond quick to describe the appearance as the Tr flashes the picture/figure of people (hint : Ss refer to the hand-out) by referring to h-out A. √ Tr will prompt the questions as in induction section above √ Emphasize on the morality Hand-out B - physical attributes whiteboard LCD Projector Laptop (Pres B) b) Practice (13 mins) - Based on the observation , Ss need to listen, observe, examine, think, and then fill in the missing blank for 2 people (from the slide Pres B) 3

ELT/HAS08/COPYRIGHTS RESERVED c)Presentation/ Practice (10 mins) - Tr stresses on not to use the cliche’ or any overused or common words such as to avoid using thin, fat, etcetra. - Tr emphasize the Ss to use new vocabulary as they learn today to familiarize with the words - Tr assigns partner for each S. He/She needs to observe the partner’s face/ any . - Ss fill in the missing blank - Based on H-out C, each stud must rewrite into the box . (either f-i-blank or add own words) - Finally, the selected Ss needs to present with his/her partner and describes his/her appearance to the whole class. Hand-out C - the first side completed by the Ss Hand-Out D - the second side d) Production Game - Guessing game WHO’s WHO (15 minutes) - Before game, Tr flashes on the previous slides - Tr listen to the vocabularies used and improvise - Game start, Class is arranged possibly in circle - Tr will give confidentially to each Ss a name of his/her friend that he/she needs to describe - Tr will tell the rules of the game:  Ss is not allowed to tell the name though gender is allowed  Only physical appearance and personality  Ss should not use any humiliation such as ‘fat’ etc. Better to avoid the common words  Ss is not allowed to tell who is he/she describing - Each Ss needs to have a piece of paper - Tr will give them some time to think of the first statement of vivid description of his/her friend - Now, the Ss need to write only one line - Next, Tr will ask to rotate the paper counterclockwise within the circle and pass to the next friend. - The next friend needs to look around and observe his classmates and guess who as portrayed by his/her friend and add one more description line - This process will occur up to 5 to 6 rounds. The last person who receives the paper will need to guess who is the person. Only the first description line was accurate. Audio CD -Background Music Each paper/ Ss Rearrangement of seats f) Closure (2 minutes) - Tr recaps the lesson by scanning through the overall physical appearance’s description of a people from the hand-out - Restates the importance of morality in speaking All hand-outs whiteboard 4
