 The literal meaning of the word Rasa Prakasha- Sudhakara
means Splendor of the Rasas or well spring of Nectar.
 This text was written in 13th century A.D. by Acharya
Yashodhara Bhatta son of Shri Padmanabha Bhatta who
belonged to Gouda Brahmana Kula and resident of Junagad, a
place in Saurashtra, Gujarat.
Acharya does not mention the name of his Guru in this book .
 But he quotes the name of Soma deva in various contexts.
 From this reference we can consider that the author may be a
disciple of Soma deva.
 This book was published by two Eminent personalities at
two different places.
First publication was done by Acharya Yadavji trikamji in
1910.
 Re editing of this version was done by Nirnay Sager press
Mumbai in 1923.
 Second publication was done by Acharya Jeevram Kalidas
Vyas in 1912.
 Third publication was done in 1940.
 This book consists of 13 chapters.
 As this text is written in 13th century it is considered as more
scientific and well arranged than other books.
 Rasa Prakasha sudha kara is a book which gives importance to
Loha vada and Chikitsa vada .
 According to Sidhinandan Misra this book can be considered
as a complete book of Rasa sastra.

 Sweta Rasa bhasma ( Rasa Karpoora ) is said to be

 Lohita Rasa Bhasma ( Rasa Sindhoora or Udhayabhaskara rasa )
is said to be Lalitakama vilasavidhayaka, destruction of all
Papajanya rogas.

 Talastha Rasa bhasma is said to be Vrisya & Valipalita
nasana
 Rasa Manikya – Manikya Varna bhasma of Parada has
properties like Deepana, Pachana, Kustahara, Balya,
Netra rogahara etc.
 Explains the method of extraction of Parada from
Hingula.
 Shadguna Gandhaka Jarana
 Description about Rasa Pottali – Balakara, Sukhasidhida
 Krishna Rasa Bhasma – 3 Ratti with Madhu cures
kshaya, kasa, swasa , valipalita nasana , sakala kusta
vinasakara .
 Rasa parpati preparation :-
• Sudha Parada – 2pala
• Tamra bhasma – 2pala
• Sudha Gandhaka – 2pala
• Ghrita – Q.s.
• Method of preparation :-
• Sudha Gandhaka and Ghrita should be mixed together well
by grinding in a khalwa yantra.
 It is then placed in a Loha darvi and melted over mild
fire.
 Melted Gandhaka is added to the mixture of Parada &
Tamra bhasma and ground well.
 This molted mixture is then poured to a Kadali patra
kept over the cow dung
 Pressed with pottali of cow dung which is covered with
Kadali patra
 Dose – 1-2 Ratti
 Different indications with different Anupana :-
• With Panchakola + Madhu --- Sannipata Jwara
• With Pippali choorna & Madhu – Sotha
• With Trikatu – Vatika Grahani
• With Guggulu & Triphala – Vata rakta
• With Hingu & Puskara moola – Vatika Soola
 With Sudha Bhallataka & Madhu – Sidhma
 With Madhu & Gomutra – Arsas
 with Madhu & Dasamoola ksh – Vatika Jwara
 Description about Parada Bhasma sevana gunas like

pinaka, naga, manduka, Vajra

is indicated in kshya, pandu, kamala, kasa, swasa

 Mythological origin of Sasyaka – from the vomitus of

Pacha vakra rasa, unmatha rasa, Icchabhedi rasa,
 Rama bana rasa, Swacchanda bhairava rasa, Agnikumara
rasa, Mehari rasa, Mrithyujaya rasa , Kechari gulika etc.
 Author says that these 100 yogas have been collected from
various Rasa books after thinking & experiencing them.
 So an intelligent Rasa vaidhya should know all these yogas
which will make him popular and respectful in the kingdom.

 This chapter consists of 64 Divya oushadhis , whose
most of the names are astonishing and no authors have
revised it.
 These drugs are used for Parada bandha
 Most of the drugs are not in use.
 some eg are – somavalli, soma vriksha, somakala etc.
 64 Rasa oushadhis which are used for marana , jarana,
niyamana of Parada.
 some eg are – jalautpala, chinchaka, jalapamarga etc.
 Most of the drugs are not useful and controversial.
 68 Maha oushadhis like rudhhi, shoshini , adhogupta etc
which are used for Parada bandha & marana .
 68 Sidha oushadhis are explained which are used for loha
sidhi & deha sidhi .
 These drugs like devilata, kalavarni etc are controversial
and not known .

CONCLUSION :-
 Rasa prakasha sudhakara is a book which is written in 13th
century A.D. by Acharya Yasodara Batta.
 This book throws light on each and every minute details of the
principles of Rasa sastra.
 Book gives detailed description about 18 samsakaras of Parada.
 Though this book is written in the same era of Saragadhara , it
does not includes in Laghutrayis.
 The reason may be of its non availability.
 According to Sidhi nandan misra this book can be
considered as a complete book in Rasa sastra.

  • 3.  The literal meaning of the word Rasa Prakasha- Sudhakara means Splendor of the Rasas or well spring of Nectar.  This text was written in 13th century A.D. by Acharya Yashodhara Bhatta son of Shri Padmanabha Bhatta who belonged to Gouda Brahmana Kula and resident of Junagad, a place in Saurashtra, Gujarat.
  • 4. Acharya does not mention the name of his Guru in this book .  But he quotes the name of Soma deva in various contexts.  From this reference we can consider that the author may be a disciple of Soma deva.  This book was published by two Eminent personalities at two different places.
  • 5. First publication was done by Acharya Yadavji trikamji in 1910.  Re editing of this version was done by Nirnay Sager press Mumbai in 1923.  Second publication was done by Acharya Jeevram Kalidas Vyas in 1912.  Third publication was done in 1940.
  • 6.  This book consists of 13 chapters.  As this text is written in 13th century it is considered as more scientific and well arranged than other books.  Rasa Prakasha sudha kara is a book which gives importance to Loha vada and Chikitsa vada .  According to Sidhinandan Misra this book can be considered as a complete book of Rasa sastra.

  • 16. THRITIYAADHYAYA ………….  Description about 4 types of Rasa Bhasma , based on colour – Sweta, Krishna, Peetha, Lohita  Sweta Rasa bhasma ( Rasa Karpoora ) is said to be vatapittakapha kshayahara, Akhilakustahara, Yuvatikama vilasa vidhayaka  Lohita Rasa Bhasma ( Rasa Sindhoora or Udhayabhaskara rasa ) is said to be Lalitakama vilasavidhayaka, destruction of all Papajanya rogas.
  • 17.  Anupana – Pippali choorna, Madhu  Dose – 1-3 Ratti  Talastha Rasa bhasma is said to be Vrisya & Valipalita nasana  Rasa Manikya – Manikya Varna bhasma of Parada has properties like Deepana, Pachana, Kustahara, Balya, Netra rogahara etc.
  • 18.  Explains the method of extraction of Parada from Hingula.  Shadguna Gandhaka Jarana  Description about Rasa Pottali – Balakara, Sukhasidhida  Krishna Rasa Bhasma – 3 Ratti with Madhu cures kshaya, kasa, swasa , valipalita nasana , sakala kusta vinasakara .
  • 19.  Rasa parpati preparation :- • Sudha Parada – 2pala • Tamra bhasma – 2pala • Sudha Gandhaka – 2pala • Ghrita – Q.s. • Method of preparation :- • Sudha Gandhaka and Ghrita should be mixed together well by grinding in a khalwa yantra.
  • 20.  It is then placed in a Loha darvi and melted over mild fire.  Melted Gandhaka is added to the mixture of Parada & Tamra bhasma and ground well.  This molted mixture is then poured to a Kadali patra kept over the cow dung  Pressed with pottali of cow dung which is covered with Kadali patra

  • 40.  SAPTAMAADHYAYA ……………  Description about Nava ratnas and its relation with Nava grahas.  Types of Nava ratnas, their lakshnas , doshas and properties are explained.  Manikya, Mukta, Vajra, Nila, Gomeda, Vaidurya, Vidruma, Tarkshya , pusparaga.  Shodhana , marana of Hiraka are explained in detail.

  • 42.  ASTAMAADHYAYA ……….  Description about 100 Rasa yogas.  Some of the important Yogas mentioned in this chapter are :- Jwarankusha Rasa, Jwarari rasa, Aananda bhairavi vati, Kanaka sundhara rasa, Grahani kapata rasa, Malapachani vati, Hemagarbha pottali rasa, Raja mriganga rasa, Lokanatha rasa, Soochikabharana rasa, Pacha vakra rasa, unmatha rasa, Icchabhedi rasa,
  • 43.  Rama bana rasa, Swacchanda bhairava rasa, Agnikumara rasa, Mehari rasa, Mrithyujaya rasa , Kechari gulika etc.  Author says that these 100 yogas have been collected from various Rasa books after thinking & experiencing them.  So an intelligent Rasa vaidhya should know all these yogas which will make him popular and respectful in the kingdom.
  • 44.  NAVAMAADHYAYA …………..  This chapter consists of 64 Divya oushadhis , whose most of the names are astonishing and no authors have revised it.  These drugs are used for Parada bandha  Most of the drugs are not in use.  some eg are – somavalli, soma vriksha, somakala etc.
  • 45.  64 Rasa oushadhis which are used for marana , jarana, niyamana of Parada.  some eg are – jalautpala, chinchaka, jalapamarga etc.  Most of the drugs are not useful and controversial.  68 Maha oushadhis like rudhhi, shoshini , adhogupta etc which are used for Parada bandha & marana .  68 Sidha oushadhis are explained which are used for loha sidhi & deha sidhi .
  • 46.  These drugs like devilata, kalavarni etc are controversial and not known .  DASAMAADHYAYA ……………  Description about Yantras, which are used for Shodhana, Marana and other kriyas of Parada.  explains about 40 types of Yantras.  like Dola yantra, Palabhali yantra, Urdhapatana yantra , Deki yantra, etc.  15 types of Moosha are explained along with their synonyms & method of preparation.
  • 47.  4 types of kosthi and its uses.  Different types of Puta and its size.  Synonyms of Vanopala are explained such as Upala, Pistaka, Chana, Govara , Girindika etc.
  • 48.  EKADASAADHYAYA ……………  Description about the amazing acts of colouring Dhathus.  Describes 20 procedures of Hema karana .  17 procedures for Roupya karana .  One procedure for preparing artificial Mothi ( pearl).  Procedure for the preparation of artificial Pravala.
  • 49.  DWADASAADHYAYA …………..  Description about different Vajikarana yogas.  Vajikari vati, Vajikara avaleha ( satavaryadi leha, kama deeptikara leha, mashadi leha etc) .  TRAYODASAADHYAYA ……………  Various veerya stambana yogas are explained .  Such as veerya stambakari gutika, sukra stambaka choorna etc.  Description about the religion of Grantha kara .
  • 50. CONCLUSION :-  Rasa prakasha sudhakara is a book which is written in 13th century A.D. by Acharya Yasodara Batta.  This book throws light on each and every minute details of the principles of Rasa sastra.  Book gives detailed description about 18 samsakaras of Parada.  Though this book is written in the same era of Saragadhara , it does not includes in Laghutrayis.
  • 51.  The reason may be of its non availability.  According to Sidhi nandan misra this book can be considered as a complete book in Rasa sastra.
