8. Method of preparation:
All the ingredients are taken in equal quantity, and mixed
together in a clean and dried Khalwa yantra to obtain a
homogenous mixture.
The mixture was given Bhavana with the following
Bhavana Dravyas for 3 times, separately.
Vara kwatha, Vyosha Kwatha, Nirgundi Swarasa,
Chitraka moola Kwatha, Markava swarasa, Sigrudrava,
Kusta Drava, Dhatri Drava, Kupilu Drava, Arka Swarasa ,
Guduchi Kwatha and Ardraka swarasa.

Indications : Pakshaghata, Ardita, Dhanurvata, Ardhanga
roga, Ghridrasi, Viswachi, Avabhakuakam , Sarva vata
rogas.

23. Probable mode of action of Ekanga Veera Rasa in
Pakshagata:
Pakshagata – Vata and Kapha
Ekanga Veera Rasa - Madhura rasa, Snigdha guna,
Ushna Veerya, Madhura Vipaka – Vata Samana
Due to its Tikta, Katu, Kashaya rasa , Laghu – Rooksha
guna, Ushna veerya and Katu Vipaka – Kapha Samana.
Pakshagata – Kapha and Ama – Srotorodha
Due to its Tikta Rasa, Laghu guna, Ushna veerya –
Amapacahna – Srotosodhana
24. The ingredients of Ekanga Veera Rasa – restoring the Gati
( motor activities) and Gandhana ( Sensations).
Phytochemicals of Bhavana dravyas also affecting the
drug action, as they enhances the properties of the main
ingredient.
Amalaki, Pippali, Shigru and Maricha – ability to
minimize nerve damages due to its anti-inflammatory
actions.
Piperine – improve the outcome of patients by reducing
inflammatory features at the site of the brain damage.
25. Antioxidant and atherosclerotic properties of the
ingredients and the bhavana dravyas – capable of reducing
oxidative stress occurred due to the free radicals.
They reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, stoke
hypertension, by neutralising the damaging effect of free
radicals.
Tamra Bhasma and Sunti – hypolipedemic action – reduce
coagulation time and prevents the formation of atheroma.

Conclusion:
Ekanga Veera rasa is a herbomineral preparation explained
in Nighantu ratna kara Vata vyadhi Prakarana.
Drug of choice for the treatment of Pakshagata in
combination with other sodhana procedures.
It contains Sudha Gandhaka, Parada Bhasma or Rasa
Sindhura, along with other metallic Bhasmas like Abhraka
Bhasma, Loha Bhasma, Naga- Vanga- Tamra Bhasmas and
Trikatu Choornas.
The whole mixture was subjected to Bhavana with different
Dravyas, augmenting the properties of the final product.

It can be justified that due to its Ayurvedic pharmaco
dynamic properties and scientifically proved bioactivities
of different phytochemicals of the ingredients and
Bhavana Dravyas of Ekanga Veera Rasa can be used
effectively in the management of Pakshagata or
Hemiplegia, where the lesion is haemorrhagic,
thrombotic or embolic.
