I am at my best when serving the field of higher education. Certainly, my two years' experience teaching first-year composition qualifies. But, after nearly ten years devoted to academia culminating in a master's degree, I chose to explore the world outside of that cocoon. Now, returning from this informal one-year sabbatical, I define the field of higher education far more broadly—and more inclusively. Higher education is about higher order thinking—in an out of the college classroom. As such, I am venturing a bit of a professional crossover.
