Bush Computers Top 10 Free Programs
One of the great treasures of software development is that for every expensive
application or program out there you can usually find a few free options that are
just as good (or pretty close). We at Bush Computers have compiled a list of our
favorite free programs and put them all in one package for your convenience. We
couldn’t live without these programs, and neither should you!
Just a quick note, we did not create these programs and while we love them and
use them we are not accountable for any issues you may have with them.
One more thing - some of these applications may come with bundled software, so
when you go through the installation process look to opt out of these additional
apps.

Software Installer - Ninite
Ninite is a free software installer that offers a long list of free programs to install.
All you have to do is go through the list, check off the programs you wish to install
and then let Ninite do the heavy lifting!

Antivirus – Microsoft Security Essentials
There are many free antivirus options out there but our favorite without question
is MSE, or Microsoft Security Essentials. This antivirus program, released by
Microsoft, is light on resources, simple to install and use and very effective. Our
favorite aspect of MSE is that it is very unobtrusive.

Photo Editing – Gimp
The standard for photo editing is Adobe Photoshop, a remarkable program that
also happens to be very expensive. Gimp offers many of the same features and is
free to use. This is far and away the best free option or photo editing.

Email – Thunderbird
Thunderbird is a free email application that's easy to set up and customize - and
it's loaded with great features. It’s the perfect alternative to Microsoft Outlook.

Utility – CCleaner
CCleaner is a Windows utility that allows for easy cleaning of temporary files and
obsolete registry keys. What does that mean? A faster computer.

Web Browser – Google Chrome
Google Chrome is a lightning fast browser with a simple and clean design that also
happens to come with a ton of extensions to make your web browsing more fun.

Communications – Skype
More and more people are discovering the benefits of Skype: Audio and video
calls to other Skype users for free. The only thing users need to get things going is
a reliable internet connection. There are also paid options to call cell phone and
landlines, both local and long distance, at incredibly cheap rates.

Home Theater – XBMC
XBMC is a free, open-source, one-stop media center software for your desktop or
home theater PC, allowing you to play, organize, and stream music, DVDs, video
files, photos, and more. Loads of extensions, incredible features.

PDF Maker – CutePDF
CutePDF allows you to create PDF files from any printable document, save PDF
forms using Acrobat Reader, make PDF booklet, impose, and rearrange pages and
much more.

Office Suite – Google Docs
Google Docs is a web-based office suite offered by Google that allows users to
create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other
users. It has less features that Microsoft Office, but then again it doesn’t cost over
a hundred dollars. Must sign up for a Google account.
