Task description
Collaborate in high level administrative and logistical tasks, such as the organisation of
working-groups, forums, public auditions and meetings, the compilation of information and
documentation, elaborate reports and the replies to questions, etc (except the responsibilities of
financial management and of official negotiations and official representation).
Doing similar tasks to those of any other official of the AD category within the framework of his
daily work in order to produce results, such as participation in the unit meetings or in sector
meetings, document treatment, word processing, data research, classification, follow up of the calls
for tender, etc.
Collaborate, under the guidance of his advisor, in the fulfilment of the unit objectives, in all its
phases, namely planning, preparation, consultations, discussions, implementation and follow up of
the binding and non binding actions aiming to improve the health and safety of the workers at work.
Contribute to the socio-economic analyses required for further development, management and/or
evaluation of policies of the EU in the area of occupational health and safety.
Adviser's appreciation
During the five-month training period, Mr Gatto collaborated with the members of the legal and
socio-economic aspects team by carrying out analysis of the national implementation reports
submitted by the Member States with in the frame of the ex-post evaluation of 24 EU directives in
the area of occupational safety and health.
He has undertaken an analysis of Eurostaťs ESAW statistical report and elaborated a Pivot/Excel
document in this context and has also contributed to the draft replies to citizens' complaints
concerning health and safety at work.
In addition, he has contributed to the establishment of a compendium of relevant case-law from the
Court of Justice of the European Union. Moreover, he has performed a preliminary comparative
analysis of a draft Serbian law in the field of health and safety at work.
Mr Gatto has participated in meetings with representatives of national authorities, interest groups
and other stakeholders and has occasionally drafted the minutes of the meetings. The training period
in the Commission enabled him to familiarise himself with the internal procedures of the
Commission.

2. Mr Gatto has a good sense of responsibilities and has performed his tasks timely. He is appreciated
by all colleagues and has been eager to accept new tasks.
He speaks fluently and works in several languages (IT, EN, FR, PT, ES) which is an asset for work in an
international environment.
