Hunger and Poverty Statistics
• 870 million people in the world don’t have enough to eat.
• World’s population: 7 billion
• 1 in every 7 people in the world are malnourished.
Children who are malnourished suffer up to 160 days of sickness
each year.

8. Breakdown
• Currently 65 bilingual secondary schools around the city of
Madrid are participating.
• The program culminates in a citywide conference in which
students from each institute will participate.
• Only ten students will participate in five pairs (2 people in 5 groups
from each school)
• Each pair will represent different countries around the world.
• They will give speeches and debate global issues to develop
resolutions collectively.
There will be several mock conferences in the city of Madrid
before the final conference and one lucky student might be
selected to attend conference in New York. (10 students are
selected in total to attend the conference in New York.)
