YOUTH CONSULTATIONS FOR A POST 2015 FRAMEWORK: WORKSHOP
It is our privilege to extending this invitation to you for the upcoming Post 2015 Development
Framework - Youth Consultations. The workshop is designed to facilitate consultations with young
people around the world on the subject: What should follow the Millennium Development Goals after
2015?
Global leaders will be meeting on the global framework for 2015/ 2016. These leaders will be coming up
with a framework that will be guiding future government and development policies. We would like youth
voices to be heard in the development of this framework. Therefore there have been consultation
workshop in other countries to ensure young people with fewer opportunities and those living far from
where global decision makers are based, including; youth living in poverty, conflict, to be able to have
their voices heard on the post MDG agenda. We want Sierra Leone youth to take part on this debate.
YMCA in collaboration with Restless Development and Ipas, Youth Millennium Development
Ambassadors are leading consultation from Sierra Leone to feed into the post MDG debate. Outcomes
from this consultation will contribute to the framework that will be guiding future government policies
not only in developing countries but also globally, on the ideas to ensure that any future development
would recognize the role that young people play as assets and problem solvers. This is an exciting
opportunity for young people in Sierra Leone to share your opinions in the on-going debate.
As a valued youth serving partner organization, we are requesting your organization to provide TWO
representatives to participate in this consultation. Please be informed that the criteria for selection will be
limited to the following:
- Participant should be between the ages of 16-24 years
- Should be living in poorer communities.
- Should be equal gender mix
The workshop will take place on the 22nd to 23rd January, 2013 at the YWCA old Hall Brookfield's by
10:00am
We are committed to provide workshop materials, transport refunds and food during the workshop.
