TaylorMade, a golf equipment company, wanted to reduce costs by moving its disaster recovery solution to AWS. It worked with Datapipe, an AWS partner, to deploy Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) on AWS to meet its requirements of a 4-hour RPO and RTO, handling 1TB of daily data changes, and regular testing and restore capabilities. Key challenges included deployment options for Oracle on AWS, configuring ASM, allocating disks within AWS limits, and securing the infrastructure in the cloud. The solution deployed Oracle on EC2 instances for full control, using Oracle Data Guard for replication between sites within AWS regions to enable disaster recovery for TaylorMade's systems.
