News Project – Dalet Galaxy Install Objectives
Our client is part of the worlds largest media company, delivering high-speed multi-format content to
multiple global channels - broadcast, digital, social media and mobile.
Three years ago they were looking to deploy a MAM solution as part of the modernisation of their
production environment, with the main objectives to:
● Expand the value of their media content
● Drive operating efficiency through ingest, edit and publishing automation
● Integrate into News UK’s existing infrastructure
● Enable the upload & publishing of content to third party platforms
● Full RFP was undertaken and Dalet was chosen

News Project - Dalet Galaxy Overview

News Project - Dalet Galaxy Install
Dalet Galaxy allowed our client to:
● Search and index newly created content
● Search content from 3rd parties
● Import and export content into and from Premiere Pro
● Apply metadata to content
● Provide event based notifications on content movement
● Build automated BPM workflows for the ingest of 3rd Party content
● Publish content to Ooyala
While seamlessly integrating into our clients existing infrastructure

AWS Serverless Content Delivery - Objectives
• Replace the current manual solution of
delivering 3rd party sports content to
publishing platform (Ooyala - mobile
apps)
• Publish English Premier League in
match and full time content within 8
minutes of the event happening.
• Tie in with the 3rd parties workflow of
delivering content
• Customise content for mobile apps
(branded news publications) with
different metadata, different branded
thumbnails.

AWS Serverless Content Delivery
• Delivered a full cloud based solution with zero human touch.
• Utilised AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, Cloudfront, Simple Message Queue, NodeJS
• Headless application with executes a Lambda process for every content delivered by 3rd party
• With Lambda able to perform the following:
○ Metadata conversion
○ Metadata mapping for 3 seperate
brands
○ Define different rules for content based
on clip type (Full Time, Half Time, Ad
Hoc and In Match) delivered to
different accounts
○ Automatic Thumbnail Branding
○ XML Sidecar ingest into Ooyala
○ API ingest to Brightcove
○ Content clean up of S3 bucket

AWS Serverless Content Delivery
• Delivered 15000+ video clips
• Very low overhead cost (Lambda
processes falls under transaction
charges)
• Full audit tracking
• Messaging and execution tracking
delivered in realtime to Slack
• Zero failures and zero downtime
(excluding updates)

What did we achieve:
● Delivery of over 15000 video clips
● Delivered up to 6 end points simultaneous
● Quick to create and deploy, within 2 months from specification to go live
● Solution meant that additional app development was not required, saving time and money
● Expand the value of their media content with clear consistent metadata (was manually created
previously)
● Increased operating efficiency with no human intervention
● Reduced overheads and costs to manage the solution
● Reduced number of technical failures to zero
● Quick to adapt to a change in end point (from Ooyala to Brightcove)

(Visual and Audio), advanced task automation, Metadata enrichment etc allow news to reuse content and find relevant
content
