Volkswagen has built a One Digital Platform (ODP) based on AWS to power its digital transformation and develop new mobility solutions. The ODP provides a flexible cloud-native architecture and will extend connectivity to vehicles. Volkswagen migrated over 100 applications to the ODP within 14 months to support new vehicle launches. Lessons learned included adopting an evolutionary approach, aligning platform development with application needs, investing in new skills, and gaining acceptance across functions. Next steps involve refactoring applications, modularizing code, and scaling the platform to support 15 million connected vehicles.
