2. In what way does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products.
Front Page:
To the left is the image of my completed magazine. My title
uses a red and black colour scheme to make sure it attracts
the readers and will stand out from the rest of the market. The
reason I did this was because the red lettering on the black
background makes sure that if you were walking by it would
stand out to you.
I also used the black box at the bottom of the front cover to
make sure that the sentence that is there promoting the sale
of the magazine.
When I put into my cover lines I had to think about what colour
to make them to make sure that they stand out from the
background image that I have used. So I then used the
yellow/gold colour because this stood out from the
background.
3. In what way does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products.
Contents Page:
I have used several images on my contents page. The first of
which is the person that I am using as the main selling feature
for the magazine which is the bottom left picture on the page.
The second is a picture of the famous Handel which is being
compared to the main sell.
The third picture I have included is the one that is used for the
editors note. This is used because it gives that reader a
chance to see what the editor really thinks about its magazine.
4. In what way does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products.
Double Page Spread:
To the left of this is the image of my completed
double page. I have used the title on the individual
pages. The reason I did this was because if the
page was torn out people would know there it has
come from.
I also used the split columns on the right hand
page to make sure that people realize that it is an
article from a magazine. This also makes it look
more professional.
I also put a article header so that people that cant
remember what the title of this double is from the
contents page will know what the title is.
6. Audience Feedback
For my feedback I put together a few questions that I could print out and ask people to
fill in. As well as printing out the questionnaires I printed out copies of my magazines
front cover, contents page and the double page spread so people could answer the
question correctly. I then asked six people to fill out the questions so that I could gain
some feedback from my target audience. The questions are as of below:
Do you think that this front cover is typical
of this genre? Is the font on the content page
conventional?
Do you think the front cover layout is
conventional? Can you read the text on the contents
page?
Do you think the fonts on the front cover
used appropriate to this genre? Is the picture used on the double page
spread suitable for the genre?
Do you like the layout of my contents
page? Can you read the text easily on the double
page spread?
Is the font that I have used on my double
page spread conventional?
Do you like the layout of my double page?

8. How did you attract/address your audience?
My target audience is 16 to 25 year olds and also the audience are going to be of the
middle class and down in the social grading.
My magazine attracts the target audience because of the way I have laid the certain
sections out in my magazine with the eye catching colours that have been used and
then the bold outstanding titles. I believe that this is the sort of thing that my audience
will be looking for and will enjoy seeing it in my magazine.
My magazine uses a pleasuring, formal tone that address the target audience which
could then attract a larger audience base. Most magazines in this genre of music use a
very formal tone which I am hoping to use to help my magazine to become more
attracting to the target audience.
Crescendo includes the information that my target audience would be interested in and
with this inside it would be then make the target audience more likely to buy the
magazine.
9. How does your media product represent particular social
groups?
My magazine hopes to represent people that want to read a interesting, formal and
exciting style of magazine and also people that enjoy the good old classical music that
most people have forgotten about. The music in this magazine is from the classical
genre so the social group that will be reading my music magazine will be the higher
middle class downwards. The purpose of my magazine is to give information about the
classical genre to my target audience of 16 to 21 year olds that may not know much
about the younger musicians that are trying to break through into the industry.
10. What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
I believe that my magazine would be have to be published with a fairly popular media
institution that does actually produce magazines. If my magazine was going to be
published I would like it to be a company like the BBC magazine section because it
would ensure that it would be seen as a magazine that has very high standards and this
is because the BBC magazines have a very good reputation for the various magazines
that it publishes.
BBC publishes magazines such as Radio Times, BBC Music and Focus magazine.
Although BBC magazines is an excellent institution to produce my magazine but it
already produces a couple of highly read music magazines and thinking about it they
would most probably not want to produce another music magazine.
BBC has been around since ???? and its audience has grown since then and now has
many different magazines, TV channels and webpages. By doing this it means that that
it now has a target audience of all ages and also now appeals to all activities and
interests.
11. Who would be the audience for your media product
As described earlier my target audience for my magazine is
people of the middle class around the age of late teens, early
twenties. By targeting at this age group it means that they are
more mature and will understand what they are reading in the
magazine. I believe that this is achieved because of the writing
style that I have used.
12. What have you leant about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
Overall in this task I have learn more skills than I first thought that I might do. My skills
have developed rather quickly because I have need them to continue doing my
magazine. The two skills I am most impressed with is that I can now use a MacBook
rather well and also how to use Photoshop to edit my pictures.
With the MacBook I have just learnt how to use it to its full potential. To begin with I just
learn how to use the basic features and then started to use the most complex features
that the computer can do. By doing this it means that I can now use a Mac in later life
from what I have learn during this process.
In Photoshop I have learnt how to use all of the different types of tools that I will need to
improve my images so that they look more professional. I used these techniques on my
all of images that I have used in my music magazine.
13. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I think that it is rather obvious that I have leant more skills since my preliminary and have
used them in my music magazine. When I compare both of the magazines I can see the
improvements from my School magazine to my Music magazine because on my School
magazine the colour scheme is green and white and all of the text is the same font
whereas the Music magazine has a colour scheme of red, black and yellow and several
different fonts. I myself believe that these improvements are in fact because I have used
the skills that I have learned in Photoshop this year.

This is my media production evaluation.
And now I am going to talk about the answer I got from all of my questions
