Publishing your own ebook has never been easier. You don't have to be technical to do it either. This presentation outlines the ten steps to publishing your own ebook by Alicia Morga.

an eBook

2. Write Your Book
• Use plain Time New Roman, size 12
• Don’t use fancy font; it won’t
convert!
• Don’t include a table of contents
• Title each chapter
• Don’t number your pages; the page
numbers change when readers resize
text.
3. 2 Make it pretty
• Come up with a catchy, descriptive
title
• Include compelling cover art to
catch readers attention.
4. 3 Make it Digital
• Check which format is required for the
publishing site of your choice
– (ex. Kindle requires mobi, Nook requires
ePub)
• Use a service to convert your file, (I
used eBookBurn.com but both Amazon
and Barnes& Noble provide free ones)
• Check out my blog for more formatting
sources.
5. 4 Get an ISBN
• Buy an ISBN=International Standard
Book Number here
• You don’t need one to sell your
ebook on Amazon
• But iTunes and other sites do
require you to have one to sell your
ebook.
6. 5 Preview your eBook
• Download ebook reader software
to your PC, (ex. Kindle, Nook)
• Import your ebook into the
reader
• Preview your ebook to catch any
formatting errors.
7. 6 Amazon’s Kindle
• Create an account at KDP
• Enter your book information
• Choose a category and include
keywords so shoppers can find your
book
• Upload your mobi file
• Choose a price and royalty rate
• Submit; it’ll be for sale within 24
hours.
8. 7 Barnes & Noble’s Nook
• Create an account at PubIt
• Enter your book information
• Choose a category and keywords
• Upload your ePub file
• Choose a price
• Submit; it’ll be on sale within 24
hours.
9. 8 iTunes
• Apply to become a publisher
• Create an iTunes Connect Account
• Download iTunes Producer (Only
works on Macs)
• Upload your epub file via Producer
• Submit; it’ll go on sale within 2
weeks.
10. 9 Create an Author Page
• Available on Amazon
• Include a picture and bio
