2. Origin
Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter
are the men behind the Daft Punk masks. They were
once part of the French band “Darlin’” which first
formed in 1992, but split after a short time. The French
duo continued to form Daft Punk in 1993.
Their albums, in chronological order, are: Homework
(1997 - 99), Discovery (1999 - 2004), Human After All
(2004 - 08), Tron: Legacy (2008 - 11), Random Access
Memories (2011-Present).
3. Broadcast
Daft Punk have a Vevo
YouTube page:
https://www.youtube.com
/user/DaftPunkVEVO
Vevo is an ‘always-on’
broadcasting station for
music and videos. For
Daft Punk to have their
own Vevo YouTube page,
it shows audiences that
they have good music.
“Popular Uploads”
A song classed as “popular”
would attract the attention
of audiences who want to
match with society.
4. Radio
On the BBC Radio 1 website, Daft
Punk have their own section. The
popular radio station tell their
audiences event information, the
tracks available to listen to, and
clips.

“Biography” – Radio 1 want to
offer more than just music to
their audiences than just
music, and they want to
appeal to a wider range of
audiences.
The picture is iconic to Daft
Punk audiences. By using
this image, Radio 1 want to
catch the attention of the
appropriate audiences, and
by doing so they and Daft
Punk can increase their
popularity.
5. Official Merchandise Website
Daft Punk’s merchandise represents them through their retro theme.
For example:
Logo in the middle
– a direct link to
them.
The layout of the
pictures is typical to our
idea of a 1990’s music
fan. A wall dedicated to
the band/artist.
Dice: old car
accessory.
Computer:
Thick screen
computer
monitor
(retro).

albums (Around The World)
- Alien (?): Reference to another of
their albums (Discovery)
- Old photographs (retro): Reference to
their latest album (Random Access

“Doin’ it right” – title of a
song. It gives the song title
meaning.
6. Audience Response
A small article on
“Harder Blogger Faster” comments
about the cardigans (or jackets)
Daft Punk wore to ‘Tidal’s launch’(?).
The writer seems to be a little
‘snarky’ about the price of their
outfits.

Links to social media.
Readers and audiences
can “connect” with the
reporter and Daft Punk.
7. E-Media
An article on pitchfork.com
gives a review about Daft
Punk’s most successful album
“Random Access Memories”.
The album was a success
because “RAM” is a computer
term, and sticks with the ‘retro’
theme they represent, and the
performers create music with
old bands and musicians.

Synergy - links to social
media, and a link to
Amazon so audiences
can purchase the album.
8. Facebook
Logo – Immediately
acknowledging their
celebrity status.
Iconic image –
Seems official (it
could be a fan
page).
Name and celebrity
status – informs
audiences that they are
on the right page. It also
informs new audiences
things about them. “About” – Gives
information about
them: real names,
location, and official
website.
Promoting their
website and
merchandise.
Offering
connectivity
with their fans.
9. Print (online article)
In an online article, it says
that Daft Punk has “won
the internet”. This
language is to attract
younger audiences who
use the internet a lot, and
the use of Patrick
Stewart’s role in Star Trek
(which is a popular
meme) further increases
the popularity.

10. Synergy
Daft Punk have been involved in a few other
distribution industries. When they first emerged
they were signed up to EMI Records, but in 2013
they left them and signed up to Sony Music
Entertainment’s Columbia, so they could release
their newest album Random Access Memories.
Signing up to Sony is a big step for them, because
Sony has ownership of gaming platforms,
broadcasting platforms, and obviously music
platforms.
