1. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND
EVALUATION STAGES?
• Question 4
2. GOOGLE
I used google to research existing regional magazines, as digital copies are more easily
accessible than hard copies so I was able to get a better understanding of existing media
codes and conventions. Google was also necessary to access sites such as Wix, Blogger,
YouTube and SlideShare, so I used it in all the stages of my coursework.
ISSUU
I also found a website called ‘issuu’ which allows you to look at the
whole online version of the magazine. This made it easy to
research the codes and conventions of regional magazines.
3. CANNON 600D
I used this camera to take all the photos for the magazine, including the front cover, contents page, feature page and
website. It took good quality pictures which made the magazine look more professional. The camera allows you to
change the depth of field and IOS settings to get high quality images. It also included a memory card, which made it
easy to transfer the pictures onto a laptop.
4. PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop was the main tool I used in the production stage of the magazine. I was able to change the
brightness, contrast and add text to images without switching between programmes due to the wide
range of tools available.
5. WIX
I used Wix to create the website for the regional magazine, as I
found it was the easiest programme that can be used to design
effective websites. It’s easy to create hyperlinked pages and to
edit the website from a template or from scratch.
6. BLOGGER
I used the website ‘blogger’ to present all of my coursework. It was useful as I was able
to add labels to all the posts, which made navigation easy. It could also be accessed
anywhere including my laptop and phone, so I could easily add and edit posts.
7. FACEBOOK
Social media such as Facebook allowed me to easily communicate
with and add more people to my focus group. Most people of all
ages have an account, so I was able to include the wide range of
people within my target audience. I was able to get quick responses
of people’s opinions on my production.
I also used Facebook to communicate with my model, to arrange a
time when we were both free to take pictures.
8. YOU TUBE
I used YouTube in the production stage to watch tutorials on how
to use both photoshop and Wix. I was able to search for how to
use specific tools such as the healing brush tool, and find videos
with clear explanations.
SLIDE SHARE
Slide Share helped with the research and evaluation stages, as it allowed
me to upload power points to Blogger, in a simple way by copying the
embedded code.
