OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS
AND TRADITIONAL HOLIDAYS
IN TURKEY
• Our country consists of 7 different regions.
• These 7 regions have various festivals.
• We keep these traditions alive at these
festivals.
• In national and religious festivals, the
feelings of togetherness and cooperation are
kept alive in the community.
OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS
• 29 October Republic Day: It starts in the afternoon of 28
October. October 29 is a holiday.
• August 30 Victory Day: It starts in the afternoon of
August 29. August 30 is a holiday.
• April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day: It
starts in the afternoon of April 22. April 23 is a holiday.

It is the day the
republic was founded
and regained its
independence in our
country.
August 30
Victory Day
It is the day when the
last war during the re-
establishment of our
country ended in victory.
April 23 National
Sovereignty and
Children's Day
It is the day the National
Assembly was established
in our country. This day
has been declared a
holiday for future
generations (children).
RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS
• Ramadan Feast: Three days
• Feast of Sacrifices : Four days
In Islam, the Hijri calendar is used. In the Hijri calendar
1 year is 354 days. It is 11 days less than the Gregorian
calendar. For this reason, religious days start 11 days before
each year. Thus, festivals are celebrated at different times
of the year.
Ramadan Feast
In the Islamic world, it is a religious holiday celebrated
for three days after Ramadan, which is the month of
fasting. The day before the feast is called arafah.
This holiday is called Ramadan Feast because it
expresses the joy of the successful fulfillment of fasting.
These holidays take on the task of bringing the
community together. While unity, togetherness and
closeness are experienced at an extreme during the
holidays; The feelings of socializing, sharing and
helping each other are also felt intensely.
• Houses are cleaned before the holiday
• Everyone gets dressed
in their new clothes.
• When the sun rises in the morning, everyone
goes to the mosque for the feast prayer.
After the prayer, the feast is celebrated with
everyone.

with rich food.

The tulip, which is one of the
heralds of spring and blooms with
colorful flowers in spring, has
become a symbol of life and
fertility especially for Turks.
There are tulips in İstanbul
Emirgan Wood , in 125 different
species.

Meals are making
Big fires are lit and they jump over it by
making a wish.
Special gifts are calling "Nevruziye"
It is accepted as the day of awakening, resurrection
and creation for all beings and is celebrated with the
name of Nevruz / New day holiday.

There are 4 seasons and 7 regions in Turkey. Therefore, the plant diversity is very rich.
Many vegetables and fruits are grown. Every city has its own festival. Celebrations of
their own in these cities have become traditional.
Products are exhibited, games and entertainments are organized. Competitions
are held in that festivals.
